JustGav
What's more, all the pretenders make it worse for the few people who do have a proper problem, as it's been said above, manufacturers simply plaster "may contain nuts" on everything, which doesn't help anybody. Fully agree, I know a lady who claims to have an allergy to fish, and creates and performs if she can even smell fish cooking. Strange how she ate some fishcakes her husband cooked one day and kept his mouth shut (He said she was full of crap as well ) No doubt there are people out there who have a DEFINITE allergy, but as someone previous said in this read, it is all a legal CYA things days I'm waiting for labels on foods saying things like this "This product may contain something that will kill you, take your chance" Abbreviations CYA = Cover your ass
bigbloodyturbo
I was on a flight back from the canary islands last year and the air stewardess came on the PA to tell us that they wouldn't be serving peanuts because a passenger had told one of the cabin crew that they were allergic to nuts, apparently they couldn't even deal with the smell of them or something but i thought it was a windup untill a stewardess came round with the drinks and i joked about it then asked for my peanuts, she then told me it wasn't a joke an they were serious. It gets bit silly sometimes.
benkei
I seem to have a strange and uncharacteristic intolerance to people who have intolerances, nuts, wheat, lactose, etc etc. To me they so often seem to be people who like being the centre of attention. I’m sure (I think) that there are some (very few) people out there who have bad reactions to certain things, eating cat’s, being shot, etc but my gut reaction is that it’s mainly just a fashion. Best not say any more I'm lactose intollerant, but I don't go around telling anyone. The only people who know are my family, a couple of friends, and my girlfriend. No one else needs to know.. Except now I've told you... Does that make me an attention seeker now? TBH I've never seen anyone with an intollerance or allergic reaction seeking attention... Only Vegetarians and vegans, who have that characteristic where they don't eat meat/anything to do with animals as a protest and want to shove it in your face... That annoys me.
