Swampy442
Know theres a few tv fans on here so thought Id ask, whilst looking round Comet found a Toshiba Regza 42" lcd, 1080p with freeview for £549. Does anyone here own one, got any opinions?
jonshaw_uk
there are a few codes on the net to get 5% off and free delivery - should take it down to £
monsween
i probably wouldnt buy a toshiba as they arent very good compared with panasonic and the better brands. But then again im a fussy geek. For a run of the mill tv that'll be ok
ilicos
Definitely spend another ton and go for Panasonic. If you buy the Toshiba you will regret not spending that extra hundred pounds. They all come with freeview now anyway.
Multics
I have a regza 32", I find it very good for the money (32C3035). A friend of mine has a 42" Regza, the panel and backlight are better than on the 32", much deeper blacks, it's definitely from a different panel manufacturer but the image processing part is the same. There's a few reviews of them on avforums.
Supra-Brett
I have a 42Z3030D toshiba. About a year old now but much better picture quality than the C and X variants offered by Toshiba. Depth of colour is amazing as is all aspects of its performance. Ive compared it to Samsung etc and to be honest its better. Sony are always a good bet but pricey. I paid over a grand for the one i have complete wih a stand and that was an excellent price at the time. Not sure what the top spec Toshiba is selling for now. tomgeer
I have a regza 32" and find it fine, I also have a samsung 6 series and there isn't a great deal of difference in the picture quality even though the samsung cost much more. I would recommend it.
Snooze
Is this either the Regza 42XV505 or 42XV555? If so - I have the same TV but at 37". Cracking TV - I ummed and erred for about 18 months of scouring avforums before I plumped for it (although this was 6 months ago, so I don't know what's come out since, btw). Only thing you might find it lacking is a 100Hz mode (or M100 active on the Toshs, I think). That might mean it's not the best TV for SD sports viewing, but I've still found it fine for that myself, and you'd be paying a lot more money for anything better. So that's another recommendation from me.

JamieP
Thats a great TV, i have a 3 sumsung LCD's and a toshiba regza in my house and the toshiba has better sound than the samsungs and is also far quicker to swap between channels. Soaruss
I have a Toshiba 32" and the picture quality is way infront of my dads Panasonic and friends Sony. Theirs is like watching it through a bathroom window compared to my Toshiba.
steb9780
I have the same set mate, cracking tele. Apparently they are a bit crap out of the box, but I used a set of "Good all round" calibration settings off av forums and it totally changed it. For the price I would but it, well I paid the best part of a bag of sand less than a year ago for mine.
Hermit
Personally I just can't get on with the harshness of LCDs... been tempted recently by the budget Panasonic plasmas though, they're getting very good reviews, and 720p would be enough to keep me happy I think. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TH-42PX80B-Widescreen-Freeview-Pedestal/dp/B0013UJS5Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1229118755&sr=1-
