Paul Whiffin
I think I've officially become sensible. Bought myself an E46 BMW 330D Touring Sport 6 speed manual for everyday use. My R34 GTR was just to impractical for what I needed, just before I sold it I had 2 engine blocks and a cylinder head in the boot plus another cylinder head on the passenger seat. Now I can just chuck everything in the boot. I must say its a cracking car with its 204bhp and over 300lbft torque, just trying to resist remapping it now! Its new territory for me this, I'm driving around watching the mpg gauge to try and get the best out of it, never done that before! On a run it gives 48mpg, petrol stations are a thing of the past. Thorin
I think I've officially become sensible. *cough*bullocks*cough* just trying to resist remapping it now! Don't, some nice gains to be had from the diesels
Paul Whiffin
*cough*bullocks*cough* Don't, some nice gains to be had from the diesels There is yes, 260bhp and about 400lbft torque! Must resist. Well, I was going to do it and then a mate of mine who's worked for BMW since time began told me not to. He reckons every single diesel engine failure they've had come in had a remap, hmmmm.

n boost
Top car. I love these new bmw diesel's, i did not like diesels at all until i bought a 320d and also had a new 530d. The 335d and 535d are wolfs in sheeps clothing......very fast!

n boost
335d does 0-60 in 6.1 doesn't it? Pretty bloody quick! My mate has a remapped one and apparently it produce more torque than a m5! It now has 335-340 odd bhp instead of the 280? bhp they come with.

Paul Whiffin
Getting 40mpg out of this, thats twice the amount I was getting with the R34 GTR, I'm saving a fortune! Think I'm going to have to get it remapped soon though.

ozz
Very nice motor, I'm quite tempted for a 330 petrol as I'm not sure I want to stretch for the M3 in the current climate. Nit considered the diesels but with those figures perhaps I should!
Paul Whiffin
Trust me they are amazing engines, cant see the point in a petrol engine version unless your going for an M3.
DARETT
Nice choice, the 330D's have got some extremely torquey engines! Go for the map, you'll get a 10% increase with your MPG as well
Paul Whiffin
Thats what I was hoping for, I've never been bothered about MPG until now, its all new to me this!
