Guest Barbie Girl
Hi everyone, not sure if Im posting this in the right place but anyhow!!! Ive just bought a 1995 mark iv manual non turbo import and it needs a bit of work done beofre MOT, such as brakes and timing belt. Im awaiting a manual to be sent out in the post but in the meantime does anyone know if the bottom pulley has to come off to change the timing belt?? If so, how do you get it off? Is the nut left or right hand thread? Also brake fluid - is there special fluid for the ABS?? And also, are there drain pugs or taps to drain the engine block, and if so, where are they?? Cheers!!! Swampy442
Hi and welcome 1) Yes the pulley needs to come off, and its conventional thread. I got my nut off with an air impact wrench, but you might need to find a locking tool. Once the nuts off get a puller and pop the pulley off. They have a rubber insert in the pulley which will need looking at incase it needs changing. 2) No special brake fluid is needed. 3)And drain the engine block of what, oil, water? More info please

Digsy
I think there is one but you don't need to use it to do a normal coolant change. Just use the one at the bottom of the radiator.
Scooter
manual car..................friend in the car....puts it in gear and foot on the brake pedal.......22mm socket on a large breaker bar on the crank nut may free it up without a special tool or air impact wrench.
