Mike
(Sorry Michael ) A new 'Sims' style website had been unveiled especially for the Western Muslim community - to help non-Muslims understand their culture. Muxlim Pal Will this just stir up more tension? and will it be somewhere for intolerant types to vent their abuse? Seems an odd thing to do? Jake
A new 'Sims' style website had been unveiled especially for the Western Muslim community - to help non-Muslims understand their culture. Sounds like an excellent idea. Can I 'virtually' force my sisters into arranged marriages and bump them off if they refuse? 'Cos that's something I've never understood about muslim culture. Snooze
It's just marketing - trying to create yet another "virtual universe" targetted at a specific demographic in order to steal some business off other similar products. It's a money-making scheme. Nothing sinister or segregating for the sake of it, just marketed as such in order to capture market share, IMO - even as far as saying it wouldn't surprise me if the creators weren't necessarily even Muslim themselves! bigbloodyturbo
if we play with muxlim pal can muslims play the regular sims to help them understand our culture? I think not.

The Raven
How about replacing all the food with bacon butties? That too. Im afraid while this might be a good idea to get a understanding its way to open for hackers to play around with it.

I thought the not eating pig thing was Muslim wide? I have mates that are Turkish and they were never allowed it when we were kids? They had a bacon buttie on the quiet though
Gazboy
Just to nip this one in the bud but that isn't "Muslim culture". Certainly wasn't in our household anyway. Link to 10 'honour killings' in the uk and correlate the different religions. It isn't supposed to be Muslim culture but then Catholics aren't supposed to be raping choir boys either. benkei
Reminds me of Habbo Hotel. I don't see how making virtual worlds targetted at specific people can help people outside of that target audience understand their culture? "Yes, this is 18's only, but as youre under 18 I'm encouraging you to watch this film to understand what adults like to watch."
Snooze
I don't see how making virtual worlds targetted at specific people can help people outside of that target audience understand their culture? It's not. It's really not intended to "help people outside of that target audience understand their culture". They just have to say that to try and make it sounds less segregational. I'm sure you're all intelligent enough to understand that. So now you're just reacting in the way that the media wants you to....... And it IS just like Habbo Hotel. But look at Habbo Hotel and you'll see that it's primarily targetted at westernised culture, so I don't see how this is any more or less offensive?
