Just been pulled over :-(

Well... There i was driving up to basildon, when i came across a road block and the police just looked and pointed at me :who:

So i pull over and he walks up and tells me that my window tints are dangerous and i can go to prison for 14 years if i killed a cyclist...But as he didn't have a light sensor on him he said he could only give me a warning..

He didn't like it too much when i pointed out that the tints on his police car were darker than mine.. He just told me i should remove the tint.

Oh well..... Does that mean that its on record now for my tinted front windows? Never been pulled over in 5 years of having the car, and out of all the days i get pulled for this...... Shocking..

Speaking as someone who actually wanted to join the police force at one stage (I was an inch under the height requirement! :read: ) I'm generally pretty pro-police. But I really hate the stupid 'frighten you' tactics they employ sometimes.

He probably thought 'I'm bound to find something wrong on that boy racer' and pulled you over, then couldn't find anything, so he desperately came up with the window tints and decided to make it more plausible by upping the 'dangerousness' of it.

A total c*ck, and very annoying. :swear:

bloke i work with is ex cop.

He says that there are two types of police ... the sensible guys who take into account circumstances and want to clip you around the ear ... and Traffic Cops. Apparently when you become a TC you have a full labotomy

All his opinon and not mine !

Hi,

Speaking as an Ex Traffic officer I can tell you this.

1. Your tints were probably on your front windows, his were probably on his rears. His are legal, yours are not.

2. It will not appear anywhere on any record apart from his personal note book which goes nowehere really.

3. For god sakes dotn be the 'Mr big' thinking you know the law and point out his windows!!! THEY KNOW BEST ! Even if they are wrong. I ALWAYS withoug fail gave people a ticket if they were trying to be cocky.

TIP: Eat humble pie and you will 9/10 get away with minor infractions.

I'd be interested to know how dark your tints are...!!! I've got tints and they are quite dark..but i can see perfectly out of them at night...

If you had 'Limo-tint' I.E. completely black and on the front windscreen too then i can understand it...but if you are able to see out of them ok then dont understand what the fuss is!

None of us like the arrogant behaviour and self rightousness of most traffic police...and often wonder why they join the force...get rid of them and put more cameras up I say...cameras dont give you lip...If anyone wants to be a 'REAL' hero then I say become a Paramedic or a Fireman and do some real good!

Though have to say there are some good ones..i have been let off the hook a few times so not all bad..and some of the things they have seen whilst attending RTA's is often awful...

Haha exactly :)

What he means basically, is bend over, take it up the ass if and give into their power trip if you want to get away with it.

If you stand up for yourself, try to justify yourself or argue your point you'll be screwed.

That may look like i was a little bit cocky - But it wasn't intended to be... I was actually nice as pie to him... In fact so nice that he didn't give my missis a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt - But thats my fault for not checking before i took off... and well.... She's blonde so forgets everthing ;-)

Here are some pics of the car windows...... Its the side windows that are in question... I suppose i must find someone with a light sensor now .... :-)

Outside in sun

Inside Pic 1 - Not great

Inside Pic2 - not great again

I personally think they are fine ??

They look fine to me.... claiming that sort of thing is dangerous is obviously just a case of nit picking.

Every policeman / policewoman I have met has been a very nice and respectable person :) could see myself sitting down for a pint with them.

The ones going off on power trips are simply a**eholes, no other way of putting it. You have good and bad people in every walk of life. The idea that we should simply bend to the will of these bad coppers because they feel like bullying us is crap. And that's all it is - bullying. I'm sure that every good copper in the country would like to give them a slap because their only influence on society is to create hate and turn innocent respectable people into police haters.

All IMHO of course :D

Traffic Cops, Traffic Wardens, Inland Revenue Inspectors, Graham Norton....being disliked goes with the job...

Personally I would really hate to do a job that just pisses everyone off...but each one to their own I suppose...but someone has to do it, bit like cleaning toilets I guess!

That's easy they making up for a child hood where they thought they were god and no one listened to them. :violin:

In my case it's the traffic police that seem less up there own arse. As the only trouble i've had with the Police as always been with those not on traffic duty.

Fine in theory, not quite so fine in practice.

In my experience, I've always found that by apologising for what I have (or haven't) done and generally saying "yes sir, no sir" has got me off with a warning, far more times than getting a ticket.

If you meet a fair policeman, you've got a good chance of getting a warning anyway, if you meet a "bad" one, the more you argue and smart mouth him, the more you increase you chances of being nicked for something, anything :(

He doesn't want to know that; he must have been speeding to keep up with you and measure your speed, or that, his O/S/F tyre looks a bit bald to you, or that, his tints are darker than yours, or that, he should be doing more useful things like catching the criminals that broke into your mates car last week :D

The more you carry on like that, the deeper the hole you're digging for yourself.

The time to argue is when it goes to court, you've got a lot better chance, with a well presented case, of walking free, than you'll ever have by arguing with a policeman at the side of the road, who's determined to give you a ticket.

Of course, if you actually have done something wrong, and it's obvious you're going to get a ticket for it. Stand up and take it like a man, it happens to the best of us, one time or another.
