Daston
Hey guys Just finished watching this on the PS3, awesome film. However It kept switching from widescreen (with the black borders) to full screen. Anyone else have this problem? Is it a setting I am missing or the way WB put the the thing together? RiceRocket
Just seen the film on boggo dvd Just finished watching this on the PS3, awesome film. However It kept switching from widescreen (with the black borders) to full screen. Anyone else have this problem? Is it a setting I am missing or the way WB put the the thing together? It's an IMAX thing- a LOT of you have sent in e-mails asking how the aspect ratio is going to work on the DVD and Blu-ray Disc editions of The Dark Knight (due 12/9). I've just heard back from Warner Home Video on this, so here's the deal: The widescreen versions of the DVD will present the film in a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio, reproducing the standard theatrical experience of the film. For the Blu-ray Disc however, while most of the film will also be presented in the 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen ratio, the scenes that were specifically shot in IMAX format will be presented at 1.78:1, which will fill the frame and will thus recreate the IMAX experience at home. So there you have it. Should be cool, and we obviously can't wait to get our hands on the discs.
Pixelfill
sounds bloody annoying to me, particularly if you have a tv that can't switch screen format particularly quickly. Mike
Jake
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=533080&i=200 after seeing the dark knight a couple of weeks ago my girlfriend said upon leaving " that was brilliant!! But they still don't tell you who batman is do they, i think it's the mayor"
Bobbeh
Kept switching during the movie? Thats odd, try and force your TV not to auto format, and check the PS3 settings if theres some aspect ration options you can play with. very bizzare. Daston
Hmm I hope they dont do to many like this as it spoilt the film a bit, if they can have the ratio to fill the screen why dont they do it all the way through!!!!!
Mike
They did it on Hellraiser back in the day... although I think that was down to saving money on film
bolarbag
Why do they shoot most things in 2.40:1 rather than the usual 16:9 now?
Mike
Why do they shoot most things in 2.40:1 rather than the usual 16:9 now? It's to do with what lens it was filmed with, apparently
Pete
I saw it at the IMAX - absolutely stunning! I've got it on Bluray - but sadly I don't have anything to play it on.

Kopite
BUMP. Are there still issues with The Dark Knight on Blu Ray? One of my mates said he bought a copy and it wouldn't play on any PS3 at all either. Was thinking of getting it for my brother for Xmas but not sure whether to get it on DVD instead... Pete
I watched it at my mates on his 50" new Panasonic plasma jobby. Looked great - sadly his speakers are just the internal units so poor sound. I got back to mine and watched the DVD version with my decent 5.1 sound and it was so much more enjoyable. People really don't appreciate how much difference the sound makes.
Muffleman
Popped into Tescos on Saturday, well wouldn't be a weekend if I didn't spend loads in Tescos and they had Batman Begins and Dark Knight as a Bluray double pack, for 18.97 ! Seemed pretty good
RiceRocket
and they had Batman Begins and Dark Knight as a Bluray double pack, for 18.97 ! Are you sure that's BluRay? Only ask cos that's £10 cheaper than online stores and the Tesco's website too.
