19pjbsupra97
so no one knows this answer?
Jake
I could probably answer this for you if the question was a bit clearer. I have rebuilt Supra VVTi engines before but I'm not sure what you're asking.
19pjbsupra97
i took the front cover off.... and there are 5 bolts holding it on and i have heard that you dont touch those bolts and then it says that again right under the valve cover... Chris Wilson
Under Mr Brown's government it's probably a criminal offence and monitored by the local council spies, maybe even more heinous in the US, who knows? I have undone this assembly, and put it back together on two different engines. It worked as before, in both cases, although I am lucky not to be writing this on HMP notepaper. Undoing the correct bolt, that actually holds the pulley to the camshaft, by holding or locking the OUTER of the pulley, without holding the cam itself (as you appear to be doing correctly with the adjustable spanner in the photo) can strain the mechanism though, so be careful. Jake
Same as above, I've removed and refitted that cover several times on two different engines and both worked perfectly fine afterwards.

19pjbsupra97
what should i torque these bolts to?
Chris Wilson
8 to 10 lbs ft would be my guess, although I'd not use a torque wrench and just "feel" them tight. I doubt it's critical, just do them diagonally and evenly.
