Bye Bye Aristo

Wish I could Jon, Legally though they will only shout and make Branners delete the thread.

Lets just say "Deadly Sins" No naming just yet.

I am however seeking legal advice re: the car being broken into whilst in their care, all my CD's stolen, and a number of other issues since then. I'm personally out of pocket to the tune of in excess of 4 figures

Im gutted for you. It really hard when people mess with your pride and joy. At least mine was fixable.

I would love to know who it was for personal note if you wouldnt mind.

I hate all this legal stuff where people cant post up on the internet what they think of people. Incredible!

Jezz,

I'm fine mate, your welcome to say anything you wish. I may have some one who is interested in buying to repair

Ok cool.

Basically Toms car came to us with a head gasket failure, a big one. Compression 0 on all 6 cylinders, and when turned over the cylinders quickly filled with water.

So we stripped her down and the head went off for testing and a complete rebuild. Once all back together it was a really sweet engine, perfect.

The car then went for MOT. This is where the problem arose! The MOT failure sheet is 3 pages long! The most concerning point is the fact that the rear subframe has been repaired at some point, badly. It would never go through an MOT with that subframe in it, its gone too far to have a safe repair. One of the front subframe mounts has also been snapped and botched....

Front discs warped and pitted.

Rear discs excessivley worn.

One caliper needs replacing (UK type).

No sidelights.

No fog lights.

Exhaust beyond legal noise limit (No shit!)

Rear subfame damaged (Dangerous)

Front subframe mount damaged (Dangerous)

Handbrake duty 11% (Dangerous)

N/S/F upper arm has excessive play (Dangerous)

O/S/F upper arm has excessive play (Dangerous)

O/S/R lower arm has excessive play

....thats just the stuff I can remember.

The drive train is faultless, 6 speed gearbox is nice and smooth engaging gear, and the engine is now 100% perfect. Car still pulls really well. I do hope someone buys it and puts it back on the road. Its way too nice to break up. :(

In your opinion Jezz, how much will it cost to get it going again ?

Jezz,

thanks, I didn't know the full extent of the MOT.

Surprised side lights not working as they were pretty new.

Never has had a rear fog light (AND I MEAN NEVER).

QSD & Jezz have been exemplary in their help, much better than some I know ;)

I'll call you tomorrow to discuss repair costs as I have a couple of interested parties looking to buy to repair. Car will be sold as is.

Any price will not include the Z1's as they are worth a lot more.

No worries Tom.

Mike, I think the issue would be finding parts. I have no idea how much the arms ect would be for an Aristo/GS300. Also, cant see a rear subframe being cheap new! Used is cool, if you can find one being broken up. I threw one away a while back, took the engine out and it sat there for months so I binned it. :(

Jazz ius going to post up a potential cost to repair. I have just come off the phone with him and he thinks that if someone was to buy and fix it is worht at least £7k, I'm prepared to accept 6.5k (without the Z1's) so if anyone is interested, please let me know.

reasoning is 6 speed gearbox (£3k) and TT Conversion (£3k) + all the others, so a quick sale will get a good deal.

thanks for the interest

Tom

If anyone would like to price up themselves, the failure sheet reads as follows.....

1-n/s/f position lamp not working

2-Registration lamp not working

3-Offside rear fog lamp missing

4-n/s/f brake hose deteriorated

5-o/s/f brake hose deteriorated

6-o/s/f caliper leaking (UK caliper)

7-n/s/f brake disc pitted (UK disc)

8-o/s/f brake disc pitted (UK disc)

9-n/s/f brake juddering severely (UK disc)

10-o/s/f brake juddering severely (UK disc)

11-n/s/f upper ball joint excessive play

12-o/s/f upper ball joint excessive play

13-n/s/f lower ball joint excessive play

14-o/s/f lower ball joint excessive play

15-n/s/r subframe attachment/bracket broken inadequetly repaired

16-rear subframe inadequetly reapaired

17-Exhaust noise is in excess of that emitted by similar vehicle with standard silencer fitted

18-parking brake efficiency below requirements

Advisorys....

1-n/s/r brake disc slightly pitted (UK disc)

2-o/s/r brake disc slightly pitted (UK disc)

3-o/s/r wheel bearing has slight play

4-slight play in o/s of steering rack.

As you can see, a lot of it is superficial stuff. As mentioned before, the engine and gearbox are 100% perfect, head has just been completly rebuilt and a new cam belt fitted, car runs lovely and looks superb, so its well worth putting back on the road.

Tom has had a hard time with this car so I can completely understand that he's lost heart with it. Its worth £8k in parts alone, so I think his asking price as it is, is more than reasonable.

Anyone that wants to give me a call to discuss options, feel free to do so, 01327 858000, 07590 016801.

What went wrong with the trader fella? :(

Sorry to be reading this fella, I hope you going to be able to put up an honest thread on the trader that messed things up for you.

Remember back to when I put my neck on the line to name and shame Turbofit, its not easy but other may well crawl out of the woodwork.

Pig

there are a load of things with the trader. Watch this space as will be revealling all this week.

There will be a few who don't like what I post but I want all of the members to be aware of this trader and how dodgy they are.
