MATT RR
Looking for some help, I need to re-furb my callipers, does anyone have some advice on how to stop the brake fluid bleeding out when removing the connecting bolt from the brake line to the calliper? I need the calipers off for a while so dont want to bleed all the fluid out the system! I have braided lines so cant use cable clamps! Any help much appreciated... JustGav
Simple nut and bolt throught banjo unit? Worked for me before You will of course still have to do a normal brake bleed once you refit them.
Chris Wilson
Two small squares of soft alloy sheet either side of the union, in the jaws of Vice Grips (Mole Grips), done up moderately tight work fine if you don't have the proper banjo union sealing kit. paul mac
tbh fella if the fluid hasn't been changed in the last couple of years i would use it as an opportunity to do a full fluid change, just strap up the hoses as high as possible as even changing the fluid you want to minimise the amount of air you get in the system
Terminator
My thought exactly Paul. I can't see the point of doing a brake refurbishment and not doing a complete fluid change, little cost involved.
mellonman
i think it was for ease, for the amount of time the calipar is off it would bleed out the system completly, so would have to bleed master cylinder and abs , but if capping the hose can just flush the system trough. but i might be talking b/s as im gonna be trying this shortly. Dnk
When you bleed the system get a vaccum bleeder as it takes only minutes to do the whole lot and you can do it on your own if required. Motul RBF600 brake fluid is very good
