Don't bother with 720P, go with 1080P capable box. Unless you're planning to buy again in 1-2 years when OLED may be more prevalent Also remember size - take diagonal size of screen x 2.5 = distance you should be from it for optimal viewing. i.e 52' plasma = 130 inches = 10 ft 10 inches away to view. Dont' go buying a 52+ screen if a 47 would suit better. Check out the current threads on avforums.co.uk , knowledge of customer experience regarding quality, warranties and customer services are always something you should weigh in on your decision to buy. Then spend the rest on a decent sound system :-) Or the supra... I also know a guy who has the 52" version and it's incredible. Blu-ray on it is staggering. It's fecking huge though. He put his old 32" against it and it would fit the old screen inside the new one 4 times. You can't get a higher spec for the price (or even close to it). No problem, but £50 of fuel it's still only £300 and I will throw in a cup of tea and a biscuit;) Sony are good, but you do pay for the name, we now have 2 Panasonics and they are fantastic. I would definately recommend them. LG in my opinion comes a poor 4th or 5th at the moment, Pioneer are in the lead though, but you will have to pay far more. LG 42PG6000 PLASMA HD READY blah blah lol £555.00 In my place of work we have 4 50" and 2 60" LG's, the quality is horrendous, I dont think their 1080p though, it really depends on your budget, at the size quoted above a panasonic plasma is a good bet for sub 2k, 2Kplus Pioneer, the blacks on my KRP500 cant be beaten:) If you can go a little smaller i.e 40 I recommend the 37" LCD Philips with Ambilight, I have the 32" LCD one in my room and the ambilight is very nice! A year ago when deciding which plasma tv to buy Pioneer were on top followed by Panasonic and then Samsung. Plasma's were supposed to be better than LCD's for fast moving stuff like sports etc. Do some research on AVforums and your questions will be answered. Have a look what Aldi are selling, the've had some real cheap large TV in the past don't know the quality though! I brought a Sony system very expensive but all the latest stuff, should last a few years i hope.
