adnanshah247
Hello people. Just needed some advice. i have developed a really pain full back ache since monday. Its in my lower back. i have had sauna's, jacuzzi's, massages, pain relief rubs the full works but this pain is not shifting. When my back is straight im fine but as soon as i bend my back it almost brings tears to my eyes and feels very stiff. im only 22 and A&E is a waste of time because i went and all i got were pain killers after hours of waiting. any ideas on what it could be? any ideas on how i can ease the pain, its driving me nuts! i am struggling to sleep as well. As far as i can remember i didnt lift anything heavy nor did i have any accidents. its a gradual pain that over the last few days has just got worse and worse. ozz
Try physio maybe? There are back exercises you can do to relieve back pain but better to get them from a specialist, you don't want to feck your back up!

Get yourself to the doctor's, It Could be anything. You can slip a disc just by sneasing for example. Have you taken ibuprofen? I had a bad bike accident 8 years ago and my back has hurt most days since, when its really painfull I take Ibuprofen and they work for me. Nick
Find a good chiropractor and let him/her have a look at it. I had my reservations but it worked wonders for me. Beats the hell out of waiting around to see a doctor. If there's something wrong then massages etc aren't going to do anything in the long run. If you're anywhere near Kent let me know and I'll PM you his number. His style is less brutal than others but very effective. Also if there's something seriously wrong he can tell you what it is so you can get it looked at by a doctor...

I'm 33 and I was thinking the same thing, I was talking around like an old man. It can happen to anyone. At the very least he'll be able to tell you what the problem is, very interesting stuff. Some of what they do is rather uncomfortable and painful, but it works and that's the main thing.
Babe
Chiropractor is the only way to go... there's different sorts though; McTimoney's are much more gentle and less painful, and get better results. Have a look here and choose one of their chiropractors... http://www.mctimoney-chiropractic.org/

Chewie
Everybody's back pain and the cause is different. The only thing in common is the agony. Going to to the chiropractor screwed up my back even more. The osteopath wasn't much better and as for shiatsu!!! In the it was hospital and possibly fusing the two lower vertebrae/discs that they worked out had prolapsed. Discs don't slip like a pile of plates. The discs rupture due to some trauma and the soft centre squishes out and presses against the nerve. You can have an injury in the spine but feel it in the legs like sciatica. Sometimes it could be muscular damage, an immflammation causing swelling that presses against a nerve. The hospital physio gave me a book written by a New Zealander. Mackenzie I recall. I did the exercises and really didn't have much faith in them but after 2 weeks something went click and that was 15 years ago. I'm in 2009 London marathon and hope to finish it in 3 hrs 15 mins. You can get better but be wary. It cost me alot of money and in the end a £5 NHS paperback sorted me out. Get well mate.
Swampy442
Could be fluid build up (not knowing your frame so to speak)
Supra Size Me
Not knowing your excercise levels etc, but you wouldn't happen to do a lot of sit ups would you ? possibly on a coldish floor surface like laminate flooring ? If this sounds familiar then switch to carpeted/thermally insulated flooring as put mine out for weeks with that escapade ! assuming you haven't had any previous damage to your back in the past or repetitively stressed it (including sit ups do leg raises instead or at least do sit ups using correct technique and don't allow your back to get cold) getting your back cold is one of the biggest causes of back pain especially in tall people. hope this helps, andy

I would have thought a chiropractor and osteopath would have noticed something like that in the first session? Before they start trying to fix anything they need to be sure of what the problem is first. Must have been agony... My first session was over an hour and most of that was just asking questions and checking me out top to toe. Then he did some work and I left feeling a bit beaten up and not a whole lot better to be honest. He wanted to see me again before I flew out and I thought oh yeah, here we go another 50quid... I went back though and this time it was only 30 minutes doing a few more slaps and snaps, but nothing major. He also gave me some exercises and advice and since then, touch wood, it's been great. Like it never happened... That was just my experience, but of course it depends whats causing the pain in the first place.
colsoop
I would go and see your GP and get referred for some scans. Its all very well trying to treat something but unless you find out the route cause you could do more harm than good. Try not to worry about things and i know it is hard but keep mobile, the worst thing you can do is lie down.
adnanshah247
just some news fella's when to a back specialist who gave me a massage and then said i had a slipped disk. pulled my leg back and used his elbow and huge crack sound were my disk went back into place. nerves went all funny for a few seconds but i felt better straight away. strange how i managed to do it. Ewen
Thats a new one on me...slipping a slipped disc back in. I always thought a slipped disc was a rupture or weakening of the disc wall, letting the soft squidgy stuff bulge out and it took weeks to subside. adnanshah247
if it pops slightly out you can knock it back in place. if it comes completly out you will have serious problems, trust me.
SilverSoop
Wow, yeah that is a new one, glad your back is ok now mate... I seriously hurt my back earlier this year, I thought that I slipped a disc, I was in alot of pain it turned out to be temporary lower muscular damage on both sides which caused the pain...I was off work for two weeks and then put on very light duties... Those b******* at work tried to fire me because they thought that I was faking it even though a written note from my doctor and sick notes weren't enough!!
