Guest CoolsBlue
I think people are overloaded with terrorist news, hi-jackings, recession, blah blah. Unless it's outside my front door I'm past caring Did you say the same thing about the twin towers when that was going on?

Charlotte
Thread merged with the other one about the attacks. Please keep conversations about Nizam out of this thread.

Chris Wilson
Did you say the same thing about the twin towers when that was going on? In the annals of human history it wasn't really that big a deal, but the media, as is their modern day won't, made it read like a world changing event. To those directly involved it must have been traumatic, of course, but compared to World War One and Two? Hiroshima? Nagasaki? It was spectacular, and the media loves a good spectacle, especially the American media. Similarly this skirmish in India, a blip in mankind's inhumanity. Something else will catch the media moguls appetite for over dramatisation next week. It will make headlines on this forum too, no doubt

Matt H
I think people are overloaded with terrorist news, hi-jackings, recession, blah blah. Unless it's outside my front door I'm past caring I have to admit what's going on in Mumbai isn't a numero uno worry of mine right now, sorry. I saw a picture of one of the younger men who lost his life for no reason; he was cradled in his wife’s arms as he died. Seeing such callous disregarding and disrespectful statements made in relation to what is a tragedy for those involved and their families makes me feel sick that people are out there that lack any compassion. Its not about the terrorism, its about the resultant off…
Mike
I don't think Chris has a lack of compassion. I think there is a lot of this about these days and it is difficult sometimes to summon the energy to actually give it it's full attention. I don't think any one is in disagreement that this is indeed a horrible act of violence. edit: in fact Chris is probably one of the most caring and compassionate people on here Check out his animals! Chris Wilson
One is gifted a finite amount of compassion, I tend to use it near to home these days, I find it no longer extends Internationally as well as it did African and Asian issues are just too divorced from more local needs for me to worry unduly.
