Tax exempt?

As far as I'm aware it has to have been manufactured before 1973.

It used to be a rolling 25 year cutoff, but I think that the government got frightened about how much revenue they'd be losing, and were under pressure from the environmentalists to get the older, more polluting cars off the road :(

Bang On, I mind buying a MK1 V6 Capri thinking that it would be tax free, that's when I found out that post January 1st 1973 you've got to pay the tax :swear:

 

The capri was registered March 73 :looney:

You might well be able to provide evidence to the DVLA that a car registered in March '73 was actually CONSTRUCTED before 01/01/73 and therefore qualifies as tax exempt.

It's been done before.
