Is it recommended to use any kind of a special oil filter for the engine break in process. I ve been recommended to use the Power Enterprise 'Black' Oil filter for the break in procedure and the Power Enterprise 'White' Oil filter thereafter. Any suggestions would be great

Cheers

Ive only heard of people using stock OEM filters for the break in period and then changing it when they change the oil out for the first time (100 miles or so).

Also, Royal Purple do a special engine break in oil if you really want to go that far (and can get hold of royal purple!!)

Heres one school of thought on engine break in procedures

I recommend you use an OEM filter but do NOT under any circumstaces use spares - shop filters of unknown origin.......they usually do not have the same quality of internal parts..........filter materials.........non return valve arrangements etc, etc.

As already advised, you can use a specially formulated running in oil but frankly I would recommend you use a normal semi-synth oil and new filter, run the engine for about 500 - 1000 miles depending on your usage of the car, then drain off, replace the filter replace with same good quality semi-synth oil and carry out the routine re-checks that are normally recommended for newly overhauled engines, checking head bolt torque etc, etc.
