Dragonball
OK - jokes about how well the missus does after all these years apart... Mine has just stopped heating the water and time to change as the existing one has done about four years - not bad as a cheap chinese knock-off that came with the kitchen and which, as I have recently discovered, is liable to the PCB bursting into flames anyway!) Sooooo... I am totally confused in which one to buy Looking to spend probably about £250/£300 Any ideas please or pointers to sites that give decent reviews (Google confuses me even more!) Cheers
michael
No idea what to go for but avoid Indesit, mine has more replacement parts than the Bionic Man now and still doesn't work. Bosch or Miele seem to be safe options when it comes to white goods.
michael
Might be possible to get this cheaper elsewhere but it seems like a reasonable option: http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/389960/BOSCH-SGS45C02GB Edit: http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.202-5593.aspx and £239 at John Lewis. Aero-M
I have an Indesit IDL40, It is rubbish at cleaning and broken a few times. My folks have had a bosch for about 6 years now, its been no trouble at all. Definatly what im going for when this one breaks again.

michael
Mmm...thanks for that Michael Most say Indesits are not that good... It's between that Bosch or the Hotpoint FDP something £245 My dishwasher repair man said that Hotpoint and Indesit are the two makes that keep him busiest - Hotpoint used to be one of the best but apparently signed a deal to have bits like the circuit boards supplied by the same crappers that do Indesit, Zanussi and a few others. He actually recommended buying a 5 year old Hotpoint rather than a new one. Go with the Bosch.

I had exactly the same advice from out local repair expert about washing machines so there must be something in it. He said he makes a fair few quid by buying broken Hotpoints, fixing them and selling them on, and that he even has a waiting list for refurbished machines. Babe
In your price range, Which? only recommends one... Bosch SGS45C02GB The 'don't buys' are: Proline DWF1250P Indeset D1450 Kenwood KDW12SL3A
Jake
Neff are good, so are Bosch. We have a 5-6 year old Bosch here (I'm at home) and no problems so far. The Mrs reckons the Indesit they have at her work is literally identical to our Bosch and that she's heard they're both made at the same factory in Italy - might be worth bearing in mind Do not buy a Zanussi - they're rubbish. mr lover
Siemens, Neff, Bosch and Gaggenau are all the same appliances just different badges and prices
