If you fall in quicksand its impossible to sink any further than your chest

Really?? I remember watchin Bear Grills (I think) showing how to escape from quicksand, and apparently there are quite a few deaths from people falling into quicksand... I know panicing doesn't help, just makes you sink faster!

They covered this on Mythbuseters too. It's to do with buoyancy of the human body and the density of what it's floating in. The more dense the medium in which you are floating, the less likely you are to become submerged in it. Quicksand is very dense and the human body will only sink so far into it - no matter how much you struggle.

Apparently most deaths in quicksand are not because people sink right under it and drown/suffocate, but beacuse they develop hypothermia or drown when the tide comes in.
