Neil Sandham
As a UK spec, mine will obviously be tested as a car with cats. Does anyone know/have experience of if I need to put both cats back on, or will I get away with just putting one back on in order to squeeze in the emmission regulations ? cheers Neil. Just stick the small back in and you should be fine.

Just refit the rearmost cat (4 bolts and the 2 nuts for the 2nd O2 sensor) and it will easily pass. the first cat is there to pass emissions in some other countries where the cat has to be up to temp very quickly (30 seconds i think), hence they bung one as near the pots as possible, and with a low honeycomb volume to heat up fast. Neil Sandham
Well, the good news is, it passed ! but only just. The tester said it was "just" inside the legal emmisions. Here are the numbers for you to compare yours against. First Test - Fast idle 2400 rpm (Engine cool) CO % .70 (fail) HC 69 ppm (pass) lambda 1 (pass) Second test - Fast Idle 2400 rpm (Engine hot) CO % .29 (pass) limit is apparently 0.3% HC 35 ppm (pass) Lambda 0.99 (pass) Natural Idle (engine hot) CO % 0.04 (pass) Cheers Neil. I was out on the town with my MOT testing station owning pal last night and he was telling me recently the MOT emissions regs have changed. i am getting him to print off the relevant pages, basically a "BETS" test is done, a "Basic Emissions Test". If there is no hard data on the car (like ALL Suzukis, believe it or not..., and most imports), then the machine allows you to scroll through to a much more liberal tst (3.5% CO I think), which any catless Supra should sail through. I may be a bit out on the facts but I'll get the details and post them soon.
Adam W
Sounds like a wild night out Chris . . . . It seems strange that the Government has formally recognised the loophole in this way and yet is making no effort to close it by ensuring vehicles are correctly classified.
