Since owning the car the heater and aircon has never worked along with the rear screen demist and the interior lights. After a 15 mile drive im starting to sweat out :) the heater unit has the illumination part working (green LEDs) but not one of the controlls activate, I have tried another unit that I know works and still the same. the whole dash has been messed about with so im not sure where to start.

I have checked the fuses Im guessing they are just the ones in the drivers kickwell they all seem fine might pull them and double check this weekend is there any other possible causes?? are the interior lights part of the heater loom?

When you say interior lights, do you mean the instrument cluster, dashboard lights or the main lamp in the roof lining?

Do the other buttons on the heater control unit work correctly?

The dash board lights work its the lamp in the lining that has nothing, none of the buttons do anything on the unit as if there is no power going to it but seems odd how they are illuminated

The interior lamp is on a seperate circuit IIRC, so that will be a secondary issue.

If the heater bulbs are lit but the buttons don't work it'll most likely be a connection problem with the heater ECU rather than a fuse. Check that all the orange plugs are securely fitted both in the back of the unit and the heater ECU mounted down behind the stereo.
