gordy07
I picked up a 27k TT engine for £850. Where?
Gaz6002
Where? 2nd-hand-land, just off the M99. On a serious note, if you have a look round there is always someone selling one cheap. Just make sure it's all it's cracked up to be (compression OK etc) and you're laughing. Mine was found through a UK part location firm in the end. couv3z
this is a option i'm open to as i still have to replace the turbos lol but if i can get it rebuild for the same value as a readly avaliable engine, or is that a pipe dream

Ian C
but if i can get it rebuild for the same value as a readly avaliable engine, or is that a pipe dream Nope no-itty no no no. A rebuild will be vastly more than a 2nd hand unopened engine.
d_d
I would Buy a 2nd run about for work Start to remove the engine looking out for a complete engine to stick back in Then your be able to sell your old engine/ and the run about You cant rush these jobs tho and you get what you pay for. Homer
If the bore is scored then it's going to be cheaper to get a 2nd hand engine. Did you have a warranty with the one you fitted? A new or rebuilt bottom end will cost a significant amount of money (£3k ish)

A new or rebuilt bottom end will cost a significant amount of money (£3k ish) it did, 30days but its run out, its more of a user error than parts error 15mins solid high speed no cool down on the turbos, so the seals went pop, and somthing from the turbos made its way into no6 cylinder still wating on the fully report from JPS but guessing its a new eninge now, as a rebuild wil be more costly
marc_p
Gutting mate:( I think it would be cheaper to get a new engine put in there, give Keron a ring, he gave me a really good price to do an N/A - TT on mine.
couv3z
bit more of a damage report 6th piston is melted, and the block will need to be bored out, and new oversized pistons fitted, new crank pully and injectors ,seals bearings ...etc Head will need to be skimmed, and a oversize head gasket required. And possible value damage Not to mention I still need to replace the turbo’s

tooquicktostop
Very sorry to hear your news, really am i know how you feel Have you thought about just cutting your losses and selling the car for spares and getting a TT as you will find you will spend another 3K getting yours sorted at least and will still have an NA-TT
couv3z
don't think there is a point to cutting and running i'm not gonna get that much for breaking the car anyway, its either a 2nd hand engine or a have forged internalls and build a stronger engine, which by the sounds of it will be in the region of what i paid last time for the conversation i don't have a problem with it being a Na-TT, bar insurance issues its the same a J-spec TT bar its limited to 170mph because of the gear box, but then i get a slight better gear ratio for accerlation
couv3z
Kin ell what happend to the TT lump? still waiting the finally why this happen, but according to jps while stripping the block down, the engine has had issue before, with the big end before as its got over sized big end bearings
