turbonut
I have GT Force coilovers but one has leaked and so they need replacing. As they've been on for 4 years already and obviously struggle with our cr*p roads, would the Tein Super Streets be more hard wearing or can anyone suggest a better alternative. Will be replacing with a full set by the way. cheers chaps Linda x
AlexM
Can't you pick up some stock yellow bilsten shocks Linda? Or do you like it low..

hoff
Linda I was told by Sumo Power that when fitting super streets to an NA they provide differant springs due to it being a lighter car than the tt (cost is about £60 more). Others say this isn't necessarry though. Just something else for you to think about:D
turbonut
Just something else to confuse you cheers Adam. Thanks too Jamie. I also wondered if I needed to replace the top/bottom mounts and if so OEM (if they'd fit??) or extra lucre for the Tein pillowball mounts suggestions?? hoff
Yep Super Streets can be used with OEM top mounts. Straight forward swap I think for OEM shocks:)
Dnk
Waste of money imo, im using o/e dampers with Eibach springs and managed to keep up without too many problems last weekend
turbonut
Its not about keeping up as I have *cough* an N/A:sly: its more about the way it handles and adjustability for comfort, as I quite like it firm
Dnk
You dont need adjustable platfrom dampers for a firm ride Youll have to pop down to ibrars and have a ride in mine and see what you think ? Dependant on snow ofcourse
bolarbag
I have a set of HKS Hypermax coilovers in good condition and covered few miles if need be, they are firm but 30odd way adjustable and great build quality!
Dnk
Its not about keeping up as I have *cough* an N/A:sly: its more about the way it handles and adjustability for comfort, as I quite like it firm Power is nothing without control
Tricky-Ricky
Its not about keeping up as I have *cough* an N/A:sly: its more about the way it handles and adjustability for comfort, as I quite like it firm Tein SS are quite firm, and can be a little harsh on bad roads, but they are pretty good IMO, if you want to go for the top mount option DO NOT get the pillowball (spherical bearing) type unless you really require camber adjustment, you will find that these make the ride a lot harder, you can get a Tein top mount that is almost the same in construction as the OEM type if you don't want to go to the trouble of changing the std mounts over, and they are about half the price of the pillowballs. Gaz Walker
as I quite like it firm I'm sorry?
Dnk
I'm sorry? You can take pills to help Gaz
IDO
as mentioned earlier i would recommend get the EDFC unit to change the settings in car! for that bit extra it really helps! i have all manor of roads around where i live/work.. kent country pot-holed gravel type lanes, the m25, london speed-bumps and over road worked roads, decent A roads and even Brands hatch.. you can store 3 types of settings, so i have just stored setting to suite most roads.. one for Good/fast roads one for normal and one for bad! turbonut
The EDFC unit would be excellent but at another £275, plus more for fitting I really can't afford it at the mo as the wheels are such a mess (dodgy weather ) they urgently need replacing so thats the next one on the list for the hard earned cash
hoff
As Dunk said before Linda for the quality you want or need a set of stock/Bilsteins shocks and good springs will probably do the job. Im running on Bilsteins and Tein S-Tech lowering springs (-20mm). The ride is good and the handling improved. The springs come in at around £200 Having said that, if you are after new shocks and springs then the price wont be too far off SS.
TNT
Linda, I've got Teins on mine, seem fine to me. During the service by CW he noticed one has a leak, seems to be a common problem as there seems to be a few threads on here lately, others like Jamie swear by them. Chris does have a bloke that can repair and reseal the shock, depends on the budget I guess
