TomTom (One) Help - won't boot past logo screen

Hey folks,

Anyone a whizz with TomTom's here???

I've got a TT1, the older version, and it just won't boot up anymore. Well, it will boot up ONCE after it's been left for a few hours switched off, but upon reboot, or whatever, it'll just hang on the logo screen after reading the memory card.

I've tried formatting the mem card and reinstalling it, I've tried updating from the web... just getting nowhere now and it's p*ssing me off :(

If anyone can help I'd appreciate it!

Thanks

Yep - I have 3.

The original 256mb one with the GB map on just errors on boot, says duff card. The other two (2gb) both read and attempt to boot, but go nowhere. As mentioned, if i leave it switched off for a good few hours, it'll boot ONCE from one of the 2gb cards. Sometimes it seems to reset itself once booted, and then gets stuck.

If I use any of the mem cards in my SD card reader, only 1 of them is readable - the other two don't work - it just asks to "insert a disk into drive XXX".

I'm thinking that either the SD card reader in the TT1 is knackered, or my SD cards are (all) knackered??!?!?

hmmm, you think?

If the card boots once, I can't see it being the card at fault? Dunno, just guessing though.

Yes - all these cards have worked in the TT before. One still works in SD card reader and formats fine. The other two work in the TT fine, and I can access them through the usual Windows explorer, delete and add files. Just can't do that to these cards in the SD card reader itself. Almost like the TT has a slightly different format, or reader config...

I'm at a loss :(

oops - should have specified that too...

Yeah, the little pin-reset button on the bottom. Done that millions of times. Had a read on the net to see the reset procedure, and tried them too in the vain hope that it'd make some difference. Nothing.

I've opened up the TT tonight to have a look inside. I've disconnected the internal battery hoping that it'd wipe any form of internal memory/flash or something.

There is actually a small push-switch inside the TT, on the left hand side, that doesn't seem to do anything, but doesn't make contact with the case (so it's not an "intrusion" type switch)....

It's almost like the chipset is getting into a state, too hot or something and freezing, and takes several hours to sort itself out.

I'm going to leave it switched on (at the boot screen) now all night, to totally kill the internal battery, see if a full charge tomorrow makes any difference!
