Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am looking to get some 18's for my J spec. I would like to upgrade the brakes at a later date, and so would be gratefull to anyone that could post which 18's they have that fit over the UK brakes. hopefully I could get a list of possibilities as I am having difficulty getting this information from alloy dealers.

Cheers for your time.

Gordon.

It depends how much you want to spend? If you buy big brand names like Blitz/SSR/ Volk Racing most of them have got enough space to fit the big supra brakes. Check out the web site of suprastore.com/ mvpmotorsports.com/or horsepowerfreaks.com there you can see a variety of wheels for sale for supra.

Nope, 18" wheels are far from guaranteed to fit. Leon had a set of Blitz 18" wheels which needed a 10mm spacer to make then fit.

Its the sheer size of the caliper thats the problem so its not the distance between the top of the caliper and the inner rim of the wheel, its the space between the flat side of the caliper and the spokes on the wheel.

Theres no way of being sure a wheel will fit unless you get it tried on a car with UK brakes or if you can find another owner with the same wheel.

Also worth noting that most wheels go up to 8.5" width, thats not enough for a Supra, should be 9.5" on the rears or more if you can find it.

Manufacturers have something like hi-disk, mid-disk, lo-disk. This is basically offsets for the big brakes. A lot of Jap wheel web-sites are selling wheels which fit these big brake calipers you just have to buy one with the right fit. They often put a * and write below will/will not fit big brakes of R34, JZA 80,etc. :D
