Guest Irish Supra
Hey folks, Can anyone give me some advise on what exhaust I should go for on the Supra. Mine is a '94 Jap N/A. Most of the big name stuff is for the TT only....I think the only exception is the HKS Hiper I've been talking to a guy from Powerflow exhausts, and he says he can do a jap style cat back for around €500. This would be all T304 stainless from the cat back, a fully polished round rear can and a 4.5" slash cut tip. It sounds the best option so far. He can custom make it for the car using the cars original mounts in about 5 - 6 hours. Any one else with a N/A got any comments???
Rob
Justin (Torque IC) will do you a Hiper for less than £500, and it sounds...well, like a big loud exhaust. I love it, and so do all my neighbours, waving the "OK" sign at me furiously up and down, as I drive past.
Rob
Sorry, I've been an idiot, mistook the Euro sign for Sterling. Thats about £320? I'd still recommend the HKS Hiper, based on their design experience, and I'm a "name" kinda guy.
Syed Shah
Sounds good! It would also be quite a bit louder than a Hiper as well :flame Dev Could you get him to remove the cats along with it?
Guest Terry S
IMHO the Hiper on a N/A is too loud. The are OK on a TT but on a N/A......... There is one around the corner (Andy Hibbert) & I can hear him for miles. Remember turbo's have a silencing effect. What about Mongoose/Blue flame? Have you tried them yet? randy
What about the Tanabe Racing Medallion? They are supposed to be as loud as the HKS ti!
Guest Terry S
Why don't you just get some 4" copper tube & forget abot the silencers:rolleyes:
Adam W
You'd be amazed how well that works Terry - cheap as well
Rob
Doesn't the heat melt the solder? or do you use big compression joints?
Adam W
Oh, I don't know about copper tube. My exhaust is stainless pipe from the turbo back, didn't bother with cats or silencers.

Guest Terry S
I did use a bit of 2" Copper once on a MK2 Escort I had. The noise was unbearable even at the tender age of 18, so you can tell how bad it was!
Flipfinger
Unguarded drainpipe wholesalers are a boon for the more stealthy and cleptomanic car modifiers.....
Rob
My dad told me...in his Vespa days, he made fake stick on exhausts out of copper pipe. Must have looked great Dad, no really.
Guest Irish Supra
This guy in Powerflow will do a cat replacment pipe for around €100. Left in such a way as to be able to refit for the NCT test. I think I'll head up to him on Friday and see about getting it done. On the subject of engine breathing, I've heard that the standard air intake on an N/A is hard to beat. An induction kit draws too much hot air from the engine bay....True or False???? TRUE Induction kits not worth it on a Supra, may be different on the NA because there would be less heat in the engine bay.
Adam_SG
My induction kit sits right by the air inflow pipe, i get plenty of cold air and even when its 25+ degrees sat in traffic my car doesn't get hot. I would recommend one i have no problems at all.
