garethr
Between 5.00 and 6.00 on this THURSDAY'S show, we will be auctioning off places to be in The Drivetime Magnificent Seven. In which seven of the finest sports cars ever produced will be up for auction. The seven successful bidders for these cars will then come to Radio 2 on the Friday of the weekend of the DRIVETIME DINE AND DISCO, where we will set off in a stunning convoy and head down to the New Forest and to the idyllic setting of the CHEWTON GLEN HOTEL. There we shall talk cars, have spas and then enjoy a mouth watering banquet all together at the top table. The following morning it's once again GENTLEMEN or LADIES start your ENGINES and off we blast to meet up with the rest of the gang and the golf and the food and the dancing and the band and Goodwood. THE SEVEN CARS WE ARE TALKING HERE ARE... this year's concourse winning Ferrari Dino the fabulous Ferrari F40 the ferocious Ferrari 275 GTB 4 cam the BEAUTIFUL Ferrari Lusso the monster Ferrari 288 gto (the car Stirling Moss declared the greatest car he'd ever driven) the Ferrari 250 SWB plus the world record breaking James Coburn California Spyder... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chrisevans/2008/11/exclusive_blog_announcement_ah.shtml http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/evans/auction_info.shtml The Drive and Dine auction in the first hour of the show raised a grand total of £188,795.01 for Children In Need. How much would you have paid?
merckx
Lovely cars. Unfortunately I think Radio 2 will have some listeners who are seriously loaded and most of us average people wouldn't stand a chance of making the highest bid. Nice to see the proceeds going to a good cause though.
Branners
not sure that would be my 'seven of the finest sports cars ever produced'. The F40 I like, the rest Im less sure about. Would be good to track down their route and do something similar for Supras. Perhaps like the Mawby Gumball from many years ago.
