I'm building ours at the moment, and seriously the sky's the limit - we got quoted more than £2000 for a countertop less than 2 metres long! Quality varies, so you really need to look round some showrooms first. Places like the Bathstore are ok - cheap and cheerful, but hardly top quality. Quality wise it needs to average, not the best, but not crap! Simple is best. In a couple of years, we will more than likely be renting the house out, so needs to done with that in mind. There are literally hundreds of bathroom showrooms around, and many have online ordering too. Unless of course you have loads of space and only want completely generic furniture. I do plan to go see the items, but trying to find different places to look at and get a general feel for prices before I drive over there to find out they are £300 more expensive. We bought an Ideal Standard mixer tap, cheapest was £140 +del I paid 99p +£6 delivery only because the fixing nut was missing, I made one Mira shower mixer off Ebay too and the bowed shower cubicle. I wouldn't recommend buying the recessed spotlights from Wickes, buy 1 get 1 free. They work okay but they bent all over the place when I was pushing them into the ceiling. probrox Posted November 12, 2008 Share Posted November 12, 2008 If you're planning on renting in the future I'd try and source items from know suppliers that aren't likely to be discontinued anytime soon ie. Armitage shanks, Twyfords etc. I work for a maintenance company doing work in the social housing sector. We visit so many properties where the tenant has installed their own fancy bathroom suite, but we can never get hold of spares so end up ripping it out and replacing. In regards to taps, we always use Peglars. They have a broad range available and are reliable. Not the cheapest but not rediculously priced.
