SupraStar 3000
Was a huge fan back in 1999 and 2001 but had forgotten how funny this was. Downloaded series 1 and 2 and haven't laughed so much in years. Anyone else fans? Shame they didn't make a 3rd series. Noticed a few references to films like Shawn of the dead too. Simon Pegg is a comedy genius
mwilkinson
Massive fan here. It was on while I was at University. Became a real cult thing for a while. I use the quotes all the time.......but no one gets them

I may have to do the decent thing and download some too I've watched Shaun of the Dead so many times now, it would be good to do a little homework

SupraStar 3000
[Dropping Mike off for his interview with the Territorial Army] Mike: Aren't you coming in with me? Tim: I'm not your dad, Mike! [Hands him a lunch box] Here's your sandwiches. I'll pick you up at five. [At the interview with the Territorial Army] Mike: In 1994 while on weekend manoeuvres in France, I commandeered a Chieftain tank without the permission of my immediate superiors. I then attempted to invade Paris. However, en route I stopped off at Disneyland, or Eurodisney as it was then called, and was subsequently apprehended on Space Mountain. TA Officer: Do you have any explanation as to why you might have done this? Mike: Well sir, at the time, I was suffering from serious emotional problems that had clearly affected my judgement. I had immersed myself in a fantasy world of my own creation and as a result I became very insular and uncommunicative. TA Officer: Why do you think that was? Mike: [shrugs] I dunno. SupraStar 3000
I was crying laughing at this line: Paintball player: You've done this before, then? Mike: You could say that. Paintball player: What do you mean? Mike: Well, let's just say the last time I was in this situation, I wasn't using a paintball gun. Paintball player: [in awe] You've seen combat? Mike: Yes, yes I have. Paintball player: Where? Mike: Umm, on the television! Paintball player: But you just said the last time you were in this situation you didn't use a paintball gun! Tim: He didn't. Paintball player: Well, what did you use? Mike: Erm, it was a big stick...?

Digsy
Spaced rocks. It works as a sitcom but there's heaps of in jokes in there if you're a bit geeky. I particularly liked the episode which ends (for no apparent reason) in a nearly word-for-word parody of the final scene from The Empire Strikes Back (complete with Mike doing a massive yawn instead of Chewie growling). Mike's "death" scene at the paintball game is a classic too.

AndrewOW
Don't forget Hot Fuzz too Which series did you watch Andy? 1 or 2? I've been watching these secretly at work , and I'm on episode 6 of the first series. The paintballing was funny, especially the yellow 'blood' I will watch Hot Fuzz at the weekend, but Shaun of the Dead should be on permanent repeat really
