Gerry Posted November 11, 2008 Share Posted November 11, 2008 Went to plug a memory stick in and as soon as it touched the socket, the screen went blank. Now although I can hear the fan running, i've got no lights up on the front of the PC and none on the keyboard. The monitor says it's working, but is just blank ! I do get static shocks here at work as I'm forever running up and down carpeted stairs to my office. I recon the static build up in me released through the memory stick into the PC. Do you think it's completely dead (you techy guys) or worth talking to India for an hour to be told that ? Cheers G Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Branners Posted November 11, 2008 Share Posted November 11, 2008 have you completely pulled the power cable out the back and then plugged it back in. Most computers never actually power down fully, they keep some voltage running through the motherboard and may need to be fully powered off.
