Guest mabs
I'm interested in getting my car (auto TT) converted into a tiptronic. Is it worth it? If it is, what needs changing? Just the gearbox, torque converter and steering wheel or anything else? Edited November 10, 2008 by Pete If you're asking for concise help it helps to have a concise question. wile e coyote
You would be best to just buy 1 I think !! they only came with the vvti engine wich had a diferent ecu wich works the gearbox also

The VVTI ecu and auto gearbox are integrated. It is also a very different ECU and not a plug and play operation.
MarkR
If you can wait until the new year I'll sell you my gearbox, steering wheel and ecu. From a 98 tiptronic vvti with low mileage..... PMme in Jan/Feb if you haven't decided.....

flyby
will the car go faster whit a tiptronic gearbox vs normal autobox? Will I have full controle over the gear changes, or will change anyway if you get to a RPM of the ecu programe?
MarkR
Same gearbox, different method of control as far as I know. You can change up and down, but if you're in 3rd, and put your foot down, the gearbox will change down if it can. It won't go higher than third though if that's what you've selected..
