Dave17
Hard to write this guys. Well I split up with my girlfriend of 4 months a few weeks ago after i did something seriously stupid. Anyway, I really can't stand the feelings that are in me now, it hurts so much and i don't know how to get rid of it and move on. I hate feeling like this and i don't know what to do. To top it off i've just left my job and am unemployed now for the forseeable future. And finally, just to make things worse, i look on facebook and read the most horrible thing i've ever had said about me. I'm a pretty sensitive chap and i'm well in touch with my feelings, and i've always felt abit awkward meeting new people so i always throw my heart and soul in to my relationships. Feel free to have a proper good laugh at this next bit though: I just joined match.com lol. What do you chaps think?
DaveK
I usually ignore threads like this - but my opinion is that you shouldn't be on a dating site until you're over your ex. All you'll do is make the next girl feel like you do now when it's obvious you're still in love with somebody else (although 4 months isn't very long so I would think you'll feel better given time). What do you chaps think? unless you are over 60 and one ugly mother i wouldnt join a web site i dont know what you did but if its what i think it is and after only 4 months she might well think you are not worth it , and she has perhaps moved on , or you could of been clingy i dont know. thin lizzy said in a song ..if that chick dont want to know forget her... move on ,get out more, give your self a haircut,a new image, join a gym, and show them all !!! good luck
Ark
4 months?!?! Drink beer, watch some pron, and tomorrow you get on with life!
Dave17
Yeah i know 4 months is really short but there's just some people you just click with and fall for instantly. I do wish i didn't do that sometimes. Quite abit under 60 actually,
DaveK
unless you are over 60 and one ugly mother i wouldnt join a web site That really depends what you want out of it. There are a whole mix of people on dating websites and some of the girls are very attractive. Assuming they are full of old / ugly people is a little outdated. JamesC
Oooo what did you do? Someone else? Yeah 4 months isn't that long. Go have a beer
Dave17
I went to pick her up one day and got pissed when she said she was getting a lift with one of her male friends, and well, i went off on one at her mates. The thing that really hurts is that its all my fault, and i'm not possessive at all.
benkei
4 months is nothing mate. Go out with your friends, do stuff you like doing to take your mind off it. Breaking up sucks, the worst thing to do is dwell on it and let it get to you. Delete the related people from yuor facebook - you don't need them in your life anymore, and it will stop you from looking at them and reading about your ex. Give yourself a makeover, like geoff said. Will make you feel a lot better about yourself, and give you more confidence. Soon you'll be chatting to girls all the time and realising that the breakup was the best thing ever.
stinboy
There is no standard timescale as to how long you can be seeing someone and feel really upset when you break up - 4 months might not be long but it can still hurt like a bitch. It depends upon the person so it's not wrong or weird to feel the way you do fella. Things do get better. Do agree with Ark though - few beers and a few laughs with your mates is what you need[GRIN][/GRIN]
Luka-P
Your mates are there to help you bud. You have to get your mind off it somehow and I suppose just take it as a lesson learnt.

juanchan
A couple of my mates joined a dating website for a laugh to see who would get a date first. The lad who won is actually still good friends with the girl he met - turns out she had only joined for a similar reason. I can see both sides of the "it's only 4 months arguement". I've got one ex who I was only with for about 5 months and I was completely gutted when we split up. However, I'd say a H-approved "Lemsip and Wank" followed by a night on the beers is on the cards. hogmaw
unless you are over 60 and one ugly mother i wouldnt join a web site I'm not ugly nor is my missus and we met online as did some of our friends who are now very happily married and with kids. So your comment is a load of rubbish mate. If you want to join a website then go for it, Match.com is good fun and even if you don't find a new g/f on there you WILL have lots of dates & lots of fun if you use it correctly. As for being single, and even unemployed, look at the positive side to it. Plenty of time to do what you want and consider your future and options. And all that freedom! DaveK
no need to join them mate come on its not hard to fine someone just dont go out expecting to find someone it will happen. That depends on your social circle. I have found them very useful in the past.
Tannhauser
Good advice on here. IMO: You just have to draw a line under the relationship. Account closed. Guilt, recriminations, might-have-beens, endless analysis of the past are useless and damaging. Don't indulge those feelings, tempting though it is; instead be as ruthless with yourself as you can. Avoid all that Facebook crap as much as you can - it will just draw you back into the swamp. As for dating sites - yep, they can work out. I've got three good friends in happy relationships after going through internet dating sites. But be warned, it can also be pretty grim and dispiriting. There you go: one cognitive-behavioural therapy session. That'll be £50.
