mattysupra
Are you better off with a light weight crank pulley? Are the pulley and crank not balanced together? If i fit one of these light weight things am i asking for trouble or are they really worth doing? Thanks.
JamieP
I just got a titan one for mine, lots of people run them with no problems.
Luka-P
Apparently any weight loss off the crank is gain as it removes a little strain.
Tricky-Ricky
Its not called a harmonic balancer for nothing, it has nothing to do with being balanced with the crank, its all about being able to cope with the fluctuating loading caused but the ancillary belts;)
mattysupra
O, i thought it was to do with pulses coming down the crankshaft caused by the firing of the pistons etc? Jamie does your new pulley have a dampener or is it a solid cast?
Tricky-Ricky
O, i thought it was to do with pulses coming down the crankshaft caused by the firing of the pistons etc? Its all part of the same effect as it works both ways. And the titan pully is damped. mattysupra
That makes sence! So how about these pulleys without a dampener? No good i guess as you may end up damaging the crank? or am i way of base here and there the best thing since sliced bread?
Nic
I'd personally only ever use a stock OEM harmonic damper, they are cheaper and do the job they are designed to do.

Tricky-Ricky
Not put well admittedly, but what i meant was if you didn't have ancillary belts, would you actually need one, as all the driven accessory's, alternator, PS pump, water pump etc all induce a certain amount of vibration loadings as well.
