Clarkson in trouble

He was merely taking the p*ss out of peoples narrow minded views of certain stereotypes. Just another thing for peole to get on their moral high horse without their sence of humor. There wouldn't even been mention of it if it wasn't for Ross and Brands situation.

Kind of like Robin Williams or Jim Carey. Personally, I think both are at their best when somebody else reigns them in a bit (e.g. for a film role). Otherwise, they quickly get irritating as they get locked into that cycle of becoming more and more manic.

I love Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, it's hard to comprehend it's even Jim Carey.

That's all I have to say really.

They aren't, this is the problem.

The Russell Brand / Ross thing highlighted this perfectly, hardly anyone complained after listening to the actual show but thousands complained once it had been highlighted to them by the media. They then allowed themselves to be shocked over and over again from watching / listening / reading the content at various sources and complained from there.

I think they reported 2 complaints from ~500,00 listeners and then the rest were as a result of the media frenzy.

I pay my license fee for content like this and I'm sure others do too.

Well said! :D

Bloody free press and media... What shall we do with the money hungry b@st@rds?? They probably caused 50% of the credit crisis as well!

Maybe you should just turn off the T.V. ;)

Loads of great stuff on TV, just not those two - which is why I do switch them off/over.

Same for JC - didn't see the lorry driver comment personally- I watched the lambo and porsche then fast forwarded through the rest of the programme hoping something else good was going to be on.

I still think that whether it's a joke or not isn't really relevant. I could post jokes on here that would get me banned in an instant. So there is a collective sense of what's OK and what's 'too far'. Same as on TV - it's a debate over what's acceptable to broadcast, whether you've watched it personally and been offended by it or not.

Somebody commented on it being 'the granny state (sic)', but this is one area that the complete opposite is true. State controls on what we can and can't say on TV have been really relaxed over the last 10-15 years, and the complaints about too much freedom (in the Brand case at least) are coming from the public. Maybe at least a section of the public are tired of comedians pushing the boundaries.

There must be some uber fragile people out there, so why are they watching Top gear???

you don't need to watch it to complain apparently

It's like the brand/ross thing, 2 complaints initially, but you just wait until the OAPs and do-good-ers get on that bandwagon.

Clarkson, should we burn him at the stake, stone him or just torture him and make him resign, along with the producer and anyone else caught up in it so we're seen to be doing the right thing?

What's the world coming to? ffs people need to get a grip!
