ManwithSupra
As above really, i have an Jspec Auto TT. Started my car this evening with the door open and noticed a "chattering" sound its not a clunky sound or a ticking sound but a "chattering" sounds kind of like a wastegate but under the car. It is rev releated as the sound gets faster when the engine is rev'd but does not seem to get much louder. I have opened the bonnet and tried to see if i can hear it from there but there is no sound out of the ordinary that seems to be coming from the engine. The sound seems to resonate from the bottom of the car behind the front wheel, however more the drivers side. If you close the door you cant hear it in the cabin even when you rev the engine. And the sound does not go away when the car warms up it just stays the same... Any idea's???
Steve
Does it go away when you put your foot on the clutch?

jamesmark
Heat shields? Only thing I can think of really but this usually goes away after certain amount of revs.
SteveR
My top guess would be a loose heat shield too - or an exhaust silencer falling to bits like my old Celica.
ManwithSupra
hmmm yeah thats my first thought as well however it sounds to "accurate" to be a shield, not sure if you get what i mean.
