TLicense
Following on from threads about the AEM controlling the autobox:- http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=168079 I found this thread on the AEM forum:- http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php/topic,1208.0.html To sum up Jason from AEM has claimed that the stock autobox in any guise in not up to any significant power / torque increases. However, I'm interested to see what power / torque people with autoboxes are running regardless of ECU. So could people post up what power they are putting through their auto transmission? If you've uprated the autobox in any way and are running more power then post up, but please also state what modifications have been done. Don't worry about posting engine specs, all that I'm really interested in is Autobox upgrades: (eg stock) BHP: (eg 440 bhp) Torque: (eg 400 ft/lg) Mileage: (eg 100,000 total / 10,000 since upgrade) ECU: (eg Emanage ultimate with stock autobox control)

lui
Looking forward to all the results on this thread as I'm having at present a PHR Street Single Kit fitted to my car on a Autobox & only upgrade doing on mine so far it fit a decent descent Mocal Oil Cooler to the autobox
tDR
Autobox upgrades: BL box, PI 4k RPM hi stall TC, 3x trans coolers. TRAC fuse always pulled - stock traction control ECU junked, this means the autobox gets a harder life BHP: 11.5 @ 114 MPH, 11.92 @ 121 MPH. Power figures have never been realised - my car is incompatible with dynos Torque: As above Mileage: 52,000 total, 5,000 with hi stall and BL boxes, 3,000 ish on current BL box after breaking the first one (2nd gear sprag went) ECU: MAP ECU2 (piggyback so stock ECU controlling autobox) Driving Style: Hard on road, very hard on the drag strip with several full bore launches including 1.6 sec 60ft's Added driving style as that's important information - people nursing stock boxes hides their durability IMO. Cheers, Brian.
paul mac
Autobox upgrades: stock BHP: 510 Torque: 458 Mileage: approx 80k total 35k of which at 1.2 bar BPU, 5K 1.4 bar T61 ECU: Stock and SAFC/ITC when i went single and had my car mapped by Thor Pete told me the box was just starting to show the first signs of wear in that full throttle 2nd to 3rd gearchanges were not as quick as they should be, over time this got worse so i bit the bullet and installed the Boostlogic built auto with 3200rpm PI torque converter ~ present spec Autobox upgrades: Boostlogic BHP: 510 T61 @ 1.4 bar Torque: 458 Mileage: 15k since install ECU: SAFC/ITC (emanage ultimate to install when engine re-built) the BL still changes up as fast as ever and allthough i drive simpathetically (ie warming the car up and cooling down properly) it does get its fair share of "spirited driving"

paul mac
TRAC fuse always pulled - stock traction control ECU junked, this means the autobox gets a harder life just a point on this, when i installed my Boostlogic gearbox i was a bit shocked at how hard the box banged into gear and it seamed a bit random some times it would change gear pretty smooth and other times it would crash into gear, i decided to disable the stock trac and all was well with the shifts being consistantly firm, i can only conclude that the stock trac conflicted with the way the Boostlogic box is set up
Guest SUP_R_G
me three, this could be very benificial to me when i have the v8 swap sorry for the hijack, but where you getting this done? i was also interested in this:D

TLicense
sorry for the hijack, but where you getting this done? i was also interested in this:D Can we keep the thread on track please. This could be the information that a lot of people will need to decide on an upgrade path with their auto transmissions.
rob wild
This could be the information that a lot of people will need to decide on an upgrade path with their auto transmissions. Total agree and I wish I had had this information 18months ago. My advice would to still to go down the "upgrade/strengthen" autobox route. However I think careful consideration needs to be given to were you source the upgrade from and to clarify what exactly has been done to the box. As a minimum I would expect the box to have been totally overhauled including all new seals, pump, pistons etc. I have had 2 BL upgraded boxes go but they have broken due to a faulty seal and pump (which weren't replaced at BL) However as far as strength is concerned that on the stock box (details above) Michel did find "wear" in the TC and the box itself. However the two BL boxes have been fine apart from the seals and pump. Therefore on using the BL boxes with a full WOT launch on a [email protected] did not break them i.e. 2nd gear sprag. Also I would consider the mapping had a great deal of effect on that as how much retard is used when shifting therefore lowering the power and stress on the components. It might be interesting to get Robbie to comment on this thread regarding the amount of 1/4 mile runs that he did on his single bl setup. I know he managed a 10.66 1/4 @ suprapod 07.
