Gadget
Went to change the oil, spark plugs and filter today. After changing all these the car starts fine, only now it purrs like a kitten. I thought I might have put to much oil in but after reading on here the Na engine takes 6.5 lts, I have only puit four in. Anyone had a problem like this before?? What has my easy service caused as problems now??

Gadget
The engine sounds like a highly tuned scooby, a loss of power and the whole car shakes whilst in idle. All the sound comes from the engine like a blown exhaust but I know that is fine

Paul Whiffin
Sounds like you haven't put the plug leads back on properly if its shuddering? Best check them out.
Guest Budz86
Thats what I would have said. Leads have been put back on in the wrong order or not on properly.
ManwithSupra
Probably the ignition leads the wrong way around. Or Incorrectly gapped spark plugs. What spark plugs did you get? Luka-P
Check the plugs with the ones listed on the FAQ and also that the leads are in the right place. They're numbered IIRC?
Gadget
Spark plugs are Denso Iridium Power IK20 which is 0.4mm in gap. Is that ok??
Pixelfill
Might I suggest you pay for a taxi to collect the Girlfriend, it'll be cheaper than sorting any further damage by driving it in that condition. IK20s sound wrong to me but I don't know for certain. Because they are Iridium you shouldn't attempt to change the gap - should be about 1.1 mm. check out the following thread for more info http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=41927 It'll either be the plugs that are wrong, or incorrectly connected HT leads that's the problem. The difference in oil quantity could be due to oil remaining in the engine, and not being fully drained, plus if you prefilled the filter that makes a difference to the quantity you'll need to add. I really wouldn't drive it until you've sorted it though. Mike
RobSheffield
IK20 are for stock TT and NEVER gapped
Gadget
So for a Na this is completly wrong or will they still do the same job??
RobSheffield
If you gapped them to 0.4mm, and its misfiring, id say no

Pixelfill
Question: Did you gap the IK20s yourself at all? whether you did or did not, I don't think those plugs are suitable for your engine. If you didn't then you might be able to sell them on to a stock TT owner. I'd get one of the options from the thread I linked before just to be sure you have some suitable plugs. I'm sure the NGK's aren't ridiculously expensive. Mike
