Justin
Dear more learned than me people. Please can you give me your thoughts on these questions as it seems a little tricky finding wheels to fit a Supra in the UK. It is wheely important! 1. From what part of the wheel is the width measured? Is it outsides of rims or just inside where the tyre sits? I took my wheel off and it measured 11 inches across. Do they make 11" wheels or is it a 10"? 2. Is the PCD 114.3 mm with 5 studs on the J-Spec 3. If I get 18" wheels with 255 tyres on rear what is the max profile size I should choose? 4. Is it best to get a thinner width pair of front wheels say 9" front and 10" rears? 5. What is the thinnest width of wheel I can safely and comfortably choose? Thanks for your time. Wheels are measured where the tyre sits so it is sometimes difficult to measure a wheel width with the tyre on. Normally the size is stamped on the rim. 5. I have 17x7.5 wheels all round but with stock size tyres front and rear and have never experienced any difficulties
Adam Kindness
i have 9.5 x 18 on the rear with 275x35 rubber and 8x18 on the front with 225/35 rubber seem ok to me.... I stayed norrower on the front to avoid tramlining etc PCD is correct

Stock width's - Toyota chose those width's for a good reason.

That's true, but lets hope they are not less than Toyota intended

Syed Shah
Stock widths: 8" front 9.5" rear 5. Go as wide as possible, nothing narrower than 255 on the back, and 235 on the front. 3. Max profile, 45 front and 40 rear, preferably 35 rear though. 2. Yes. 4. Yes, go thinner on the front than the back to help 'balance' the handling. 9" and 10" would be a good choice. Alex
The wider your tyres are the more prone to tramlining you become....its a balance of handling feel/composure vs. outright grip/footprint. I think 245 F and 275 R is a good balance for a Supra which is not stock. I've currently got 285's on the 9.5" rear and they are just a tad too big. Guest Terry S
8.5" are too narrow for the rear. Randy, how much are you paying for the SSR's?
AJI
Randy : Are you realy putting 275 width on the front? 255 width is the widest I've heard of for the fronts. The balance of grip front/rear is going to be drastically altered and with those widths on the front. You are going to be biased towards lots of oversteer in mid corner even without using rear wheel drive to get the back end out. That's just my personal opinion as although I've done a bit of car setup in the past I'm no expert. What do other guys in here think? Andrew Dunk Shaw
Hi Justin, On my last mk4 i had 9x18 fronts with 245x40x18 tyres and 10x18 rears with 285x35x18 tyres which worked really well, but the bigger width you go the worse the car tram lines. I think if you went up to 275 width on the front the car would tram line horridly, just my opinion !!! My new rims when they arrive are 9x18 and 10x18 as i know this wrks fine on a mk4, cant see any point in going bigger your just upping your tyre costs. Guest Terry S
It may be OK as he is keeping to the same front to rear differnces as stock, i.e 20mm wider at the rear. I personally run 235 at the front & 285 at the rear which works fine.

Thanks for the info, I'm not worried about bigger I was more concerned with how small the widths can be as my local wheel shop don't do that many wide wheels. Take care - Justin
