Chris Wilson
Proper job, not sure about water based, having gone to that trouble I'd have been tempted to go old school! Nice to see a decent paint prep, that's a credit to you
baldy
Proper job, not sure about water based, having gone to that trouble I'd have been tempted to go old school! Nice to see a decent paint prep, that's a credit to you i guess you mean solvent based, water is far better, going back to solvent is hard work after being on water for so long
Chris Wilson
Can you tell me more? i was of the impression solvent based was till more durable, less likely to cloud in reds and blues, and more scratch resistant? I don't touch bodywork at all, just curious as to how things have progressed. Thanks.
baldy
ths is just my experience of waterbased once you have been trained to use waterbased its very easy to work with, but its drying time is a bit slower than solvent better for coverage, less likely to react on poor prepwork, most have a fair amount of latex in them so stay flexible. by cloud do you mean like when reds have bleached in the sun and go white powder looking? if so then the clear coats these days have very good uv protection, its these uv's that cause the bleaching
