So how you guys finding it?

Its starting to slip in that bin I like to call "the next gen bucket" it seems to me that the side missions are all the same and the AI is pretty non exsistant. I had 1 chap who thought it would be a clever thing to do to run at me in a straight line from miles away when I had a sniper rifle....

Has the feeling of graphics over content. Still not as good as Crysis, Half Life, Portal. Also the PC version feels like a console port the mouse feels not as precise as other FPS' and I cant set the number of decals! Nothing I hate more than dead body's vanishing before my eyes!

Should have my copy of Fallout 3 today :)

That pretty much sums it up for me Daston, it's pretty and all, but the AI is a bit dim and most of the missions, extremely repetitive. I'm only at 16% but am bored with it already!

It seems we agree on many games so I will be interested in what your think of Fallout 3 before I splash the cash on another 1-play-only game.

Ah, well I'm only on 1% and am still in the wide eyed look at the pwitty graphics stage.

Reviews as soon as you can Pete :)

I've spent all night playing Dead Space and jolly good it is too.

The controls are a little fiddly at first but soon become second nature. Atmosphere is very good - scared the crap out of me a few times as I'm sat here in the dark with all the whispering voices and strange noises all around me.

Similarities with BioShock have to be made which isn't a bad thing. Lots of little audio snippets and text notes to pick up along the way giving you clues as to what's going on.

There's the kinesis and stasis guns which allow you to move heavy objects or slow enemies or items down. Zero gravity features in it too which is pretty weird and disorientating. There are also the odd parts where you're exposed to a vacuum in space in damaged areas of the ship and have to manage your O2 supply.

Your armour and weapons can be upgraded with Power Modules from shops and bought with cash you find around the place. All very reminicent to the plasmids idea in BioShock.

It's been a good romp tonight. I think I'll move on to Fallout 3 now.

Bah, played FryCry 2 again today but have lost interest. It's so reptitive it's beyond boring now :( It's a shame, it had a lot of build up and is a visual masterpeice, but like many of the FPS's in the last 18 months it has little real content.

Has anyone had a few hours at Fallout 3 yet? Daston... :stickpoke

PC. The alien things are a bit repetitive though. I'm hoping for some more diversity soon.

Fallout 3 seems pretty good so far although I've only really got out of the introduction.

Lots of option to make up your character, skill points etc. I always find it difficult to know what to choose and it's not until you've played a few hours you realise that you should've assigned your skill points on different skills.

I've made it out to the radlands only to immediately get shot and killed by some yokal. :( Try again tomorrow.

Graphics, as in all these games are very very good and surprisingly smooth (Duo Core 2.13 and GeForce 8800 GTS 512Mb, 4Gb RAM)

Bit disappointed here too I'm afraid, yes it's a pretty game but I'm just not really enjoying it. Missions always seem to be MILES away so there's plenty of (yawn) driving. Well I say driving, more like drive for 5mins, get crashed into by a local with a machine gun on the back of the truck, kill them, drive for 5mins, another truck, kill them, drive for 5mins, another truck, kill them - repeat until you arrive at destination :D

I'm going to persevere for a bit seeing as I've spent my hard earned, but it's not what I hoped. Doesn't seem to have the same feeling of THIS IS HUGE ! like Far Cry did.

Ended up back on COD4 last night :D

FYI Fallout 3 is shaping up to be really rather good :D

I've done a few quests, chatted to some people, found a surprising array of weaponary already, and am loving the VATS system and some real clever advances over Oblivion, such as the repair system.

No-one claiming to have finished FarCry2 and Fallout 3 in one weekend yet? bwahaha

Was Crysis any good btw?

I liked Crysis as a technology demo, a bit of a short game. Had some nice features. Still basically the same old thing though. Point gun, shoot bad guy. Sneak about a bit, blow stuff up etc.

The power suit thing was novel.

and am loving the VATS system

I saw press V for VATS coming up on the screen every so often and when I did nothing happened. What's that all about?

Fallout 3 is great so far, it's very involving and is VAST with so much exploring to do an items to pickup/upgrade. It's a similar scope to Oblivion in terms of the amount of things to do, but better delivered.

I love the Bioshock style 30's comic book interface, objects and theme; it just helps draw you into the game.

Far cry 2 is on the uninstall list after only 8 hours of gameplay... It looks like fallout 3 will be on here for the long haul (I like to really explore in games and check everything out, and from what I can see so far this could take a very long time)

Yes, it does feel quite Bioshock.

I got it today... even though I said I'd stay away from RPG's. This one is really immersive straight away. I'm liking it.

Whoa whoa whoa lads, Fallout 1 was made in the 90's in the same stye, do not sully it by saying it's 'like' that polished console turd - if anything Bioshock's visual style was like Fallout, thanks :p (shame it wasn't like System Shock 2 gameplay wise etc etc :complain: )

And Project IGI can feck off too, that was respawn hell, I binned it after a promising start.

I've been playing Fallout 3 some more and it's just ace. Bit wobbly, I've had one BSOD, some sound looping issues that a couple of jabs on the Escape key sort, a lockup on entering a room (reboot ahoy), and a comedy bug:

I went into a hut in Arefu, spoke to the bird who owned it, she thanked me for what I did and exited the hut. Hum. The door is locked, it can't be picked, and I can't knock on it like the first time. I waited 48hrs (which cocked the autosave up) but she never came back and I couldn't escape the hut :( So fairly representative of real life then - help a bird out and all you end up with is a crappy little house and no life :)

But I don't care about all that. It's one of those games where a sporadic crash is a welcome opportunity from on high to drag yourself away from it and, oh I don't know, eat or use the bathroom or something trivial like that.

It's gonna last for ages this game, and there are a lot of different ways to do pretty much every quest, yeeehar
