Homer
Wow. It going to need a pretty high spec system to appreciate just how pretty this game is, but even on my low spec one it looks impressive so far. It's not making the most of the system like Crysis Warhead did, but the scope is very different. It's surprisingly at odds with the first far cry, but I love the open ended gameplay and the HUGE area thats free to roam. Has anyone else had a play of it yet? Angarak
I was invited over to Ubisoft Montreal to get a hands on with it back in September for a couple of days, played a small portion of the SP on the PC, and played with the Map Editor and MP on the XBox 360. Its a nice game, not as photorealistic as Crysis, but its system specs are less demanding to compensate. The SP is good, it captures the 'open feel' of FC1, but it is in no way related to FC1 in terms of storyline. There are a couple bugs with the PC version (keybind issues, driver issues, game launching in windowed mode, etc) but the MP structure is absolutely shocking, I'd say its worse than FC1. They took the best MP game mode from FC1 (assault), bought the IPR to it, then left it out of FC2 and replaced it with a mediocre replacement called Uprising which is ruined because you always get some retard who is 'the captain' who doesnt capture the points as intended - meaning you can never win. If they fix the MP it could be a contender for game of the year, the Map Editor is an amazing piece of kit - really simple to use, shame it doesnt have an equally awesome MP to go with it. Still worth the money for the SP alone though.
123tom123tom
This is the best game i have played on ever, the map editor is excellent. You really feal like you are there in the game with the ammount of detail they have put into the destructable environment and the weapon noises and the way the guns get jammed .... A*********** rating from me:)

Bender
Wow. I got Athlon 3200+, 1GB, Radeon X1900XT. I got any chance to play FC2 ???
Carl
I been playing this on and off since ~Wednesday. Very nice graphics. I think it plays much better then crysis. you get a better frame rate especialy if you download the beta nvidia drivers 180.43. I have everything cranked up to maximum at 1600 res and it still plays a comfortable 50 fps. The only thing that seems to really hit the system is going from 4x aa to 8x aa. that will hit my system around 4 fps although still very playable. I have been wondering around enjoying the graphics at the moment but I need to start playing the game properly now. Great game tho. I have mentioned it before but my system is Quad core/GTX260/4gig ram/22" monitor. Carl
Daston
How come you are getting low fps in crysis then? Maxed out I am seeing 45 - 50fps on average

What's your system specs? my pc was pretty good but that was nearly 2years ago so i dont know if it'll run FC2 at a pretty framerate. Homer
How come you are getting low fps in crysis then? Maxed out I am seeing 45 - 50fps on average Duo E6750, 2GB RAM, but XFX 7600GT XXX 256MB graphics card which I am pretty sure is the bottleneck. bigbloodyturbo
i should be able to run it then as my specs are the same as yours except i got a e6600 and a 8800gt 256mb.
Daston
yah the gfx card will be the bottleneck Running QX6850 Core 2 Duo Extream 4gb OCZ SLI RAM 2x 8800GTX Sound blaster Fat1lity xtream Gamer In full settings my only major frame rate drop is the last boss battles in both crysis games because of all the aliens flying over head. Have to turn the AA down to x4 to smooth it out

Daston
ooh I am pleasently suprised! Its damn good infact! Driving is even worse than Far cry though so thats a bit of a let down but so far so good. Running everything on full except AA thats down to x2, seem to be getting a weird mem leak though will run smooth as a babys bum then pause then run smooth again etc etc. May have to install vista SP1
Mike
I can't make my mind up what games to buy... there are too many around My current short list is (XBox360); Gears of War 2 Far Cry 2 Fallout 3 PES 2009/Fifa 2009 Fable 2 Saints Row 2 Midnight Club : Los Angeles Dead Space Mirrors Edge Need For Speed : Undercover Tomb Raider : Underworld How ridiculous is that!? I think I'll definitely get Gears and probably Mirrors Edge, but there isn't enough time in the day to get through that lot!
Daston
I know what you mean My list so far is Fallout 3 Little big planet Mirrors edge Dead space Fable II (when it hits PC) Saints Row 2 Then just waiting for the big ones next year like BF3 and Op flashpoint 2. However I know what will happen I will just sit on EVE
Daston
So how you guys finding it? Its starting to slip in that bin I like to call "the next gen bucket" it seems to me that the side missions are all the same and the AI is pretty non exsistant. I had 1 chap who thought it would be a clever thing to do to run at me in a straight line from miles away when I had a sniper rifle.... Has the feeling of graphics over content. Still not as good as Crysis, Half Life, Portal. Also the PC version feels like a console port the mouse feels not as precise as other FPS' and I cant set the number of decals! Nothing I hate more than dead body's vanishing before my eyes! Should have my copy of Fallout 3 today
marbleapple
Can't wait to play Fallout 3.... GF is making me wait until Christmas though My problem with Farcry and I think Fallout3 is that the 1st person 'movement' gives me smoe sort of sea/motion sickness. After about 5 minutes I have to stop playing. The original fallouts were perfect for me.

I got Fall Out 3 and Dead Space today so will try those in the next day or two.

Jake
I downloaded a warez copy of FarCry2 the other day, try-before-you-buy style. I didn't rate it much. Looks pretty but the gameplay is just the same old thing. I was bored of it in 20 mins. So I won't be buying this game.

RedM
Fallout 3 is in the shop tomorrow isn't it? I may have to nip down the shop in my lunch hour. I've just discovered Oblivion. I can see days, maybe whole weeks vanishing with that!
