Hermit
41 - throttle position sensor 47 - sub-throttle position sensor Hopefully the smoke was just it running very rich due to bad sensor input But it seems strange for both to go at the same time... could be a loose connector somewhere? SimonT
May be a stupid question but what tool do you need to check diagnostics codes? And where do you get one from?

pete.w
thanks pips for the replys , seems unusual to have two sensors go down at once ,is there a common wire that goes wrong or has a bad connection ?
Ian C
Well now the ECU will store a code until it's reset, what it won't be able to do is give you a time or date. So the first thing to do is reset the ECU to clear all the fault codes and see if it still acts up. If it does, recheck the codes and the ones now present are the ones currently relevant. It's possible one or all of the stored codes go back years. Edit - gosh I was just about to add that advice to my original faq entry when I found I had already said it right at the bottom -Ian
