Piran
My Supra had one of those Halfords bolt on fog lights which my wife kindly removed by reversing into a large boulder ! I have been looking at the foglight conversion linked to on this site and have done that (at least partly) but was wondering whether if you repeated the circuit on both sides (so you end up using 4 relays) then this should stop any problems with the bulb warning light on the dash. does anyone know why this wouldn't work ? wilfman
Use the wiring diagram for the Conversion found here. http://www.supras.co.uk/resources/MkIV/tips/fogson.htm You only need 2 relays and this will convert 2 of the brake lights to foglamps when switched on and revert them back to brake lights when turned off. It looks like the bulb failure check only happens when you start the car, so as long as the fogs are off at this time then you wont have a problem. Piran
yes that's the one I followed but I assumed that the reason you would get the bulb failure light showing was that you had 2 wires just cut and hanging which would change the resistance of that part of the circuit ! if this is correct then wiring another 2 relays in to the side where you just cut the wires would restore the circuit and stop the bulb failure warning (unless of course there was a bulb failure !) wilfman
The left and right leads of each colour will be fed from the same source (you could probably trace it back to cut/splice 2 wires instead of 4) so it won't affect the resistance. Only time this changes is when the Foglamp is switched on and then the relays switch the power source to the +12 power instead.
