Ian R
Its all well and good but for proper picture quality you need quality cables as well. So many people buy high end TV's and don't spend out on them

I recall The Gadget Show doing a test of this with value and premium HDMI cables and there was no noticeable difference

Kirk
Full HD is uneccersary on TVs below 42" only see the benefits of 1080p on big tv's hence why 32s come just HD ready. Got a samsung from empire direct bout 3 years ago. Great looking TV with a great picture, only time ill replace it is when it goes pop
Scott
I have noticed a difference maybe its my imagination Imagination, HDMI is a digital signal ie on or off. Its only analogue where the signal varies by cable quality.
Mike
Personally I wouldn't buy a Samsung, they have a pretty poor reputation for reliability at the moment, just have a look on avforums. I did (admittedly after I'd bought the thing!) and it had rave reviews... Most of my family have all since bought Samsung and no-one has had a problem.... yet I do realise it's not really one of the 'premier' brands, but I'm not really a snob about brands - if it looks good to me, that's usually what I go for. My Uncle, for example would only ever buy Sony, and personally I think a lot of their products have gone to the dogs. They rely on people like my Uncle. Don't LG make something silly like 80% of LCD panels anyway?
Seb
It's worth noting that 1080p TVs often have a worse picture when it comes to regular TV broadcasts and non-HD sources. And you won't notice the difference between 1080p and 720p on a 32" TV anyway, 720p looks stunning. As has already been stated, you should *never* go by the TV's performance as seen in a shop - they never set the picture up as it should be, the guidelines for the ideal picture being: Brightness: +/-45% Contrast: +/-65% Colour: +/-50% Oh, and for God's sake, if you really, truly value picture quality and want the best possible TV for your budget, don't ever buy a TV without reading some reviews first! My friend bought a 42" TV that was cheap and while it looks great with an HD source, watching regular TV on it is shocking. Personally, I'd rather pay more or buy a smaller TV and get one that I know is the best around.
Thorin
Really!? I recall The Gadget Show doing a test of this with value and premium HDMI cables and there was no noticeable difference Yeah they put the cheapest one they could find against one that cost over £100, side by side, identical TV's and setup. There was no difference. Imagination, HDMI is a digital signal ie on or off. Its only analogue where the signal varies by cable quality. Exactly, still get no end of people saying you have to fork out for expensive cables though. The placebo effect is strong.
steb9780
I have a 42" Tosh Regza it's 1080p mate, it's a brilliant set. Got some good all round settings for it from a set that was calibrated on AV Forums, it's class. Had it a year now, so maybe the one you have seen is the same model just the next size down. You got the model number?
