Missile
My clutch is slipping like mad, So we have been using my girl friends Honda CRX del sol. V-tec. Got ready for work and left nice and early this morning. Pi$$ing down with rain, I explain too her how it would be a good idea to get a new set of plugs leads and dizzy cap for her car as its been a while since a service was done and any one of these would cause the car to stop working. Anyway seconds later we arrive at a junction, We turn left after a short wait, Minor wheel spin but nothing much and bang. No drive at all, Odd i thought, Luckily I pulled over on the kerb before blocking the road too examine. On tick over there is a nasty grinding noise, Put it in any gear and the noise intensifiys. So that ruled out the gear box in thoery. I guessed one of the main drive shaft nuts must have come loose and the splined part was disengauged. After a long long wait, the AA came out and decided the van that arrived could not tow us due to after market bumper so (I'd explained on the phone it would need a flat bed if it were to need moving) a flat bed arrived. Took us the 5 min drive back to her house. I've now taken the wheel off and the drive shaft is totally snapped in two, Crazy. Cold and wet i put it back together got washed up and went to collect my car. Just arrived at work. What a great friday. No idea why i thought i'd share that with everyone Happy friday everyone. Minor rant over...
marc_p
Yup, Honda's are prone to go through driveshafts. It was actually a good design idea as they were intentionally made weaker to stop something larger and more expensive breaking.
