supraturbochris
evening all. As some of you know, my first turbo decided to give way on me at the beginning of this month. Anyways got some replacement turbo's thank you LUKA-P. Anyways being a mechanic, i fitted them myself. I bought brand new gaskets etc and checked the turbo's sent and centre part of the turbo system which links to the downpipe. all ok. Anyways Im still getting a slight whine on idle and when boosting about 2500rpm. Sounds a bit like a supercharger. Its def not death wine, just read rob sheffields post on it. It happens about a second into when the first turbo cuts in. can anyone please help as im quite worried.

JustGav
Crank pulley?? or it could be the viscous fan coupling catching up to speed with the engine.
caseys
I once had my belt tensioner pulley give a sort of whine/squeak due to vibration at about 1900-2300RPM. Swapped the pulley and that sorted it. But it was a quiet noise, you could only hear it with the windows down.
supraturbochris
No its not coming from fan belt area. Its def around the first turbo. I read a post on the forum saying about this noise and people have changed there stock bov for a nice hks jobbie then the noise goes. Is this correct? Guest daz 6576
if your using an aftermarket air filter it can make a difference cus they are louder and you can here the first turbo more try putting the standard airbox on. that way you will defo quiet it down. i might be wrong but give it a try mate
