Chingy
Any tyre experts?? Do I have to run tubes in my slicks? Looking at getting a spare set of Drag Wheels the tyres I am looking at are Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial but these recommend a inner tubes. Do I have to run these with tubes. As spoke to a few people who said they don't use tubes on these tyres? Never had any dealings with tubes in tyres before Can anyone help? michael
I've never heard of anyone rubbing tubes in them for normal drag racing in a road car - maybe something the pro lot do? This any use? http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/tech.php?bulletin=s6 Seems to be something you can do if you like but not something you have to do, like using the tyre screws they also mention. GazB
I came across this quote on another forum 'Really is up to you, if you dont run tubes and you split one. I have seen 3 split on the return road at Shakespear in FWD cars, then obviously you take the chance going down the strip that you dont have a blow out on the sidewall etc etc. With a tube at least you have a chance if the sidewall is to split, more safety than anything else to be honest' Does that help? On the same post Keith Cowie said he didn't use tubes on his tyres
