SupraStar 3000
Watched this film on VHS quite a few times and decided to buy a copy on Dvd today so I can watch it anywhere. Its one of my favorite films of all time, so if you fancy a war film give it a go. Its well worth a watch. (7 academy award nominations) Just don't expect 'Band of Brothers' action or 'Shaving Ryans Privates' gore. The Melanesian songs and scenery are just amazing against the harsh and brutal contrast of war in the pacific. Quite a chill out film for a raining sunday afternoon. A real heart jurker and great story too.
marbleapple
Got to say that I thought it a load of rubbish to be honest. Band of Brothers just leaves it far behind (as you state)

marbleapple
well,.. can't argue with that Marmite thing I guess. I was a bit let down by it to be honest... I expected more. A good film I love (but no one else has seen) is 'we own the night'... thought it was great but it was a flop at the flics.

Angarak
I remember them advertising it when it was released, showing George Clooney giving a speach in trailer, then when you came to watch the film he wasnt in it till the end...giving the speach lol. Loads of my female friends where gutted that they'd say through the whole film only to see a couple mins of George.

Tannhauser
Thanks for the compliment, but it's not accurate by any means. I've got a broad education and I usually write well, but that's not real brains. There are some genuinely very smart people on the BBS - Ian Chisholm springs to mind, for example - but, honestly, I'm not one of them.
