ManwithSupra
To be honest i would not bother with a FMIC unless you go for a small single turbo, the Stock IC as long as it’s in good condition is fine for BPU levels which sounds like what you are planning to do. If your IC has had it (lost allot of fins etc) then i would look at getting a replacement one anyway, the Side mount Intercoolers that Chris Wilson Sell are very popular on here But for the love of god don’t buy the cheapo intercoolers on eBay, these are in some cases perform worse than the stock intercooler, if you are to buy a Front mount intercooler then look at, Blitz, or Greddy, yes they are expensive but there is a reason for that, also if you do decide to go for a Front mount make sure you duct it properly otherwise it wont benefit you at all. Here is a little bit of info on ducting and why you should do it if you are looking at fitting a Front mount unit. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=82056&d=1221568108 Edited October 20, 2008 by ManwithSupra (see edit history)

To be honest nearly every FMIC I have seen recently has ignored that basic setup. How many FMIC out there have ignored the fact that having gaps around your front mount will just cause a good amount of that cool air to take the easy path around your intercooler rather than through it. Further more, you need as much through the intercooler as possible as now the radiator behind it needs all the air it can get due to the new restrictions. Ducting is very important indeed. carl
supra_si
where do you get ducting from??
Carl
where do you get ducting from?? I doubt it is something you can buy off the shelf. When the picture shows ducting, it refers to the way you duct or direct the air through the intercooler, eg. the way you block all the gaps around the intercooler so that the air has only one path, through the intercooler. When I fitted my last FMIC on a different car I made a bespoke fibreglass front bumper with a rectangular hole that fitted perfectly around the intercooler. You could even add some foam tape around the edges just to make good the seal. You will notice that the radiator on the Supra usually has this foam tape around it, noticeable from the top. This is to try and stop air escaping around the edges. You wouold probably have to make something up to block around gaps. could be something fabricated in metal, fibreglass or similar. There may be others that have tried this already with a tidier method. Carl
