Coolant sensor....err...thing

There are two electronic voltage sensors in the metal coolant pipe which connects the top hose off the rad to the engine block.

I've broken off the smaller of the two (left hand side one) and totally F****D it! I'm SOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!

Could I please have a part no. for it and also could anyone tell me what it does?

The dashboard temp gauge is now dead so I am hoping that's all I've knocked out. The car idle's perfectly happily at about 600rpm when warm so I am pretty sure the engine is not in immediate danger as it not idling at 1000 rpm like it does when its cold. I'd really appriciate it if someone could confirm that.

And thirdly...anyone got a spare?

Cheers

PS I've now fitted my new factory rad....but its far an auto!!! FFS Dingles Toyota can you do anything right????? Still I can now investgate connecting the oil lines to the engine and cooling the engine oil. But due to the way they have treated me I shall be formally complaining to Toyota and demand some compensation...because of other things I haven't mentioned here yet.

sounds like a good idea. one thing id check first is whether the atf pipes inside the rad r designed to take the pressure of engine oil. i dont know if theres a great deal of difference between the two.
