I have to admit that it took me a few days to get used to it, but I can't confirm this. Biting point is not too sharp.

mine is the 6puk one which is rated at 810 pounds of torque i think its rated for drag launches chris has ur one in his and he said it was fine. I got the pilot bearing for the clutch which was recommend and release bearing and its to reduce the noise , not using semi worn parts new ones like.

Good idea Claire ... everytime the clutch is changed, all the rings, bearings etc should be changed. :)

So how does it drive?

Hi Claire,

If you are think n of changing you flywheel as well, you might want to look into OS Giken clutches as they are like stock to drive. They make a converter to turn the pull action of a stock in to a push action for Giken clutch. The converter mechanism, which has to be used in the MKIV, has several pivot points, so in effect you have a number of levers helping to reduce peddle effort. Mine is a triple plate, before I fitted it I was concerned it would be a pig to drive due to the very high clamping force of the clutch. It was a great surprise to find it was so easy to use.

I know Giken clutches are not the flavour of the month, but they are damn good.

All multi plate clutches are noisy and sound like the gear box is going to fall to bits when stationary or at low rpm . Uprated clutches that use the same mechanism as the stock clutch are going to be harder on the peddle as you have to over come the clamping force of the clutch every time yo change gear. Giken single plates dont suffer from the noise.

We have a Exeedy twin plate clutch in our 200SX with the RB25 engine. I hate it because the peddle effort is high and the bite point is very narrow, a few mm of peddle travel between disengaged and full on. It is just like a switch when trying to pull away, once the car is rolling its a great clutch, in traffic it is a total bitch, driving through London was a nightmare.

If you can try to get to pull away in cars fitted with a range of clutches. One pull away will tell you if the clutch is the one for you.
