Bleed valve question

Recommended Posts

All bleed valves work in the same way. They bleed off some of the boost reaching the wastgate. All you need is a bleeder that can be adjusted. The sizes really is not important unless you were after huge boost increases.

I have the same bleed valve as the one below. 3/4 turn raised the boost by about 1 bar

Takes five minutes to set up.

I have an absolutely standard UK TT. I want just a "bit" more power and have been told a bleed valve is the easiest (and cheapest) way to do it. Can anyone recommend a supplier ?? Also, any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

You will get extra power with a bleed valve but only to an extent. What you could do with is a full de-cat (ie both of them) and an exhaust. With it being a UK car your fueling will also be ok and you can also fit a F.C.C (Pete Betts) to stop you getting fuel cut at 1 bar. You'll get alot more than "a bit" more power it'll sound great and your turbos will spool up quicker too :) .

There are two different types of bleedvalve. One is the basic type which is simply a screw, spring and housing, the drawback is you get a big lump in the middle of your torque curve. If you system overboosts it could cost you a short motor.

The other type has a ball and spring that regulates the pressure, and a locknut. These are safer for your engine, and give a flatter torque/power curve in my experience.

I bought mine for about £20 on ebay.

I 100% agree with womble, the decat and Dragger really makes a great difference, I have the same as him, got to be the best single mod I have done. If it were me I'd do these first.

Hi, see where the red arrow is pointing

that’s the hose that you need to connect the bleed valve to. Get your self some hose- fuel hose is good. A few clips to hold the hoses is place.

Take the hose of the wastgate and connect it to the bleeder. Attached a 2 inches hose to the other side of the bleeder- the attached the end of that hose back to the wastgate.

When the bleeder is closed you have a stock set up. As you open the valve the boost will rise.

Make sue you have a boost gauge to monitor boost readings. You should not be able to boost past 0.9 bar with your cats and stock zorts
